Diluting Klasse HGSG for spray sealant?

Hey Guys,

I'm just throwing my 2 cents in here..

Are you talking about Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze?

Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze, klasse SG sealant, klasse sealant glase,klasse sealant

I've never heard of thinning or diluting it and as far as layering the web-page says the following:

MULTIPLE COATS will increase the clarity of the reflective shine, and deepen the overall mirror like finish.

DAMPEN YOUR MICROFIBER PAD with a quick detailer, such as Wolfgang Instant Detail Spritz or DP Final Gloss. Then apply a dime-sized amount of Klasse onto the pad. Wipe in long, layered strokes and use just a little pressure; it won’t hinder the results. Let the sealant remain on the entire surface area of your vehicle until it is absolutely dry before you buff your car. Mist the surface with quick detail spray if it resists buffing.

WAIT 8-12 HOURS BEFORE LAYERING additional coats of Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze or any other product. I recommend you let your car sit overnight and then reapply in the morning or afternoon.

Hi Bobby

Sorry to bring up a old thread. I have a quick question on the 2nd layer Klasse sealant. On the next day after the first layer cure - how do we prep the surface for 2nd layer? Do we need to wash again? or a QD to wipe off the dust. and apply the second layer : - for LC pad? do you recoomend grey or red for these application? thanks!

I have a liter of Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze want to know what (and how) forum members are diluting this stuff for other modes of application?

Does anybody use diluted klasse HGSG as a primary tool in their detailing arsenal?

What have those experienced with klasse HGSG found is a great top coat to add depth to the sealant?

Thank you!

This is one concoction (a tip from a Pro) I have used with excellent results:

KSG=Klasse Sealant Glaze
UQD=Meg's Ultimate QuikDetailer
UDW=Meg's Ultimate DetailWax

For a "Quick Detailer Spray": 1:6 ratio of KSG:UQD (approx. 1/2oz KSG:8oz. UQD)
For a "Detail Spray Wax": 1:4 ratio of KSG:UDW (2oz KSG:8 oz. UDW)

KSG says it can be layered, and I have done so. Any extra benefits, IMO, is purely subjective. Or one can take Klasse's claims and other testimonials to heart.

By following the directions, I've found it to be good stuff!

Bob,

Typically I don't mess around too much with formulations other than washes or an occasional shot of water or detail spray when compounding but this is very interesting.

Thanks for some great information!!

No problem at all!

If the car was garaged over night then the likelihood of it being dirty is pretty low. If for some reason you want to be sure it's dust free then go over it quickly with a waterless wash using a clean microfiber towel.

Any pad that doesn't cut should work fine but I prefer to use a blue or red pad. I generally use a Lake Country 6 1/2" CCS Blue or Red foam pad for applying waxes and sealants on my Porter Cable 7424 dual action polisher..

Thanks for ur input sir! Appreciated. Guess I wil need to order the waterless wash the next round. Hehe meanwhile do u recommend a qd wipe down like FK before I layer the 2nd coat of k sealant? Can I do the same if I layer with 845?

BobbyG...

As highlighted above: Me Neither!

But I've found the reformulated "QD" works great at outdoor events for what a QD is intended for...plus the sunshine/heat helps "cure"(:)) the KSG boosted Meg's UQD....I think of 'polycharged'. (by "cure" I mean: the vehicle's "sarificial- barrier" surface doesn't feel tacky/sticky)

IMO...Using the reformulated "UDW" on a new, clean, cured KSG film surface is easier than applying another layer of KSG proper.

Just something different I find interesting also. :)

A wipe down with FK425 is great if you want to make sure there is no dust. You can do the same before 845 as well...

I personally don't care for applying KSG with a machine. I find that I tend to waste more product and can't seem to get the perfect application for some reason. Because of that I always apply KSG by hand. I am preparing to begin my winter prep and plan on using KSG topped w/ 845 as usual. But this year I am going to try diluting it in a spray bottle to make my own version of Jeff Werkstat Acrylic Jett. If I can find the right ratio to suit me it will be much more cost effective.

If you do find the right ratio please post the dilution rates, I would be interested in that. Thank you Troy.

After FK - the surface are usually " slippery" I assume this will not affect the additional sealant layer or 845 to bond on top of the layer.?

I haven't noticed any issues as of yet with either KSG of 845. KSG + 845 has been my winter combo for quite a few years now. One year I laid down 4 coats of KSG just to try it. "Overkill - But Very Nice"

Usually after the initial 2 application I have to wait a week or more to apply following layers. I usually wash and dry with a blower. But usually have to do final walk around using FK425 or DG AW.

I dilute 1:1 to use as a spray sealant. Spray on and buff until it is totally gone. It cures in 30-40 minutes so you can retop with another layer after that. Its as easy to use as a QD. I dont top KSG with anything as it detracts from the looks it gives.

I am hoping that by diluting it accordingly will yield the shorter cure time allowing me to apply more layers in a shorter amount of time. I has seen a noticeable difference between a2 and 3 layers of KSG straight. 3 or 4 layers looks great.

I've used KSG with 3 parts water in a spray bottle. Its a nice booster, even on an unwaxed surface is seems to give about a month, maybe two of beading.
