Diluting Optimum Power Clean?

Quick question: when diluting OPC (purchased in the smaller 17oz size), do I just take those 17 ounces (assuming I'm diluting the whole thing) and mix it with 51 ounces of water, thereby creating a 3:1 ratio?

I just wasn't sure if the smaller size is already diluted as compared to buying a gallon.

A question on dilution for OPC

What would be your ideal ratios for the following :-

1. Vinyl
2. Leather
3. Engine cleaning
4. Wheel cleaning
5. LPC removal/clay lubricant

3:1 or un-diluted for all.

Do not use OPC as a clay lubricant. Overall, 3:1 is an excellent ratio for everything. Un-diluted for reallyyyy soiled surfaces.
 
3:1 works for just about everything except for tires that are really nasty. I keep some mixed at 3:1 and also a little at 1:1 for the really tough jobs.

For everyone, if 3:1 doesn't cut it, DO NOT be afraid to use it straight. It's just as safe as using it 3:1. If using on the interior, I would wipe down with a damp cloth after you initially wipe it, let dry, and apply a protectant. The only areas I would not use it on the car is glass and non-clearcoated paint. :dblthumb2:

:iagree: One word of warning, and it's really with any interior cleaner on leather, don't spray it on leather and let it drip down the seat back. It will make drip marks that can be very hard to remove.

To confirm, if using it as a 'pre-wash' on the lower panels (heavily soiled) try it at 3:1 first, then go 1:1 if needed? How long is ok to let it sit w/o removing LSP (or is it going to remove LSP no matter what)? And how about on opti-coat or CQuartz? I assume it wouldn't harm those at all? Thanks again for all the info.

Do not use OPC on your paint if you want to maintain your LSP, it will remove it. Good question about opti-coat. I don't think it would remove it, but I'm not positive.
 
According to Chris at OPT NO chemical will remove Opti-Coat. It must be removed by sanding or polishing. I'm not sure if CQ is the same.

Its LSP safe at 8:1 ;)
 
yup that is what i'm going to try. anyone ever use cg citrus and gloss for lsp removal?

Actually, it can be removed with a paint remover...just not prepsol, APC, Dawn, etc. And...8:1 is probably LSP safe, but it may just remove too little to notice until you've washed it a few times in this manner.
