Hey guys, new to the forum, getting back into the detailing thing after a long absence. I bought a GG6 DA after comparing the three most popular DA polishers on the market, you know what they are. I'm very disappointed in the amount of vibration I was getting from the GG6, my hands were numb and tingly after the first 15 minutes of use on setting 3. And yes I made sure my pads were centered and everything was snug and tight. Looks I'll be returning it and going with the Flex 3401.

Take a look at the Rupes machine instead. I haven't used one yet, but reviews are saying that it's buttery smooth and doesn't have all the vibration.

CEEDOG (Corey) would is a very respected reviewer on this site had the exact same experience as you did. He sent his back and got a Flex and has never looked back. There is a newer alternative that you may not have considered. The Rupes. It deserves a look for sure. 3X's as big a throw for the large Rupes and twice as large even for the smaller version. It's a serious machine!

Thanks for the replies, yeah $400 is more than I want to spend on a polisher, I'm really having a hard time justifying buy the Flex. Because my job keeps me out of the country I'll only be able to use it 4 or 5 times a year...lol!

I feel like DA's work better with 5.5 inch pads and a 5 inch backing plate. At least my PC does, and it defnitel vibrates less, even on speed 6. Could that also help with the GG6 DA?

I thought the GG is the best DA hands down... w/ the best warranty....
My first polisher was the PC7424XP, and that thing vibrates like OMGGGGGGG bad, and it doesnt have any power either....

Then i tried the Flex but i thought it was heavy and hard to control lol

Thats why I only correct a panel or two each time I detail my car, lol. I seriously cant figure out how these guys can pound out a whole car in a day, for a living!

Did you make sure the washer was in place?

I've had my GG DA for a year now--5" backing plate and Buff & Shine 5.5 pads--use it often on speed 6 working on VW hard clear and have not had any vibration issues.

Have you used any other DA? The vibration is going to be there regardless, and it's less than the PC IMO. A rotary has little to no vibration if that's your thing.

Been using the GG6 for professional and personal use, far exceeds the ever so popular PC IMO. Although when I need a bit more power, I resort to a Flex. Never had an issue with the GG6, its a well built machine that performs well for the price.

:iagree:I have a PC7424XP which I use with 4" pads due to its lack of power. I've bought a 3401 Flex without any issue even with pressure on it. I will never recommend to buy a PC and this company does not stand behind their products. "VIVA" Flex. I had in mind to purchase the 3rd generation GG6 but will wait for better comments on this unit.

I have not used the Rupes but I prefer the Flex over the DA just due to the vibration, etc. But a lot of people use the GG and like it so it is good to have lots of choices.

I detail as a hobby and was stuck between the Flex and GG DA's back when I was deciding. I opted to go for the Flex.

From a product perspective, the quality of the Flex is well known and I personally concluded that the Flex has better technology in the design and operation compared to the stable technology in the GG and PC. It is lightest of the 3 popular DA's here and feedback from reviews indicate far less vibration. Just what I would expect from a German manufacturer!

From a personal perspective, I enjoy working with my hands and have used power tools since I was in high school. I figured that "learning curve" everyone was talking about with the Flex was not insurmountable for me; and I do tend to dive into challenges. The forced rotation is just something you need to be cognizant of so you are thinking and evaluating more often during your section passes; so I am never bored.

I don't regret the decision at all and I haven't looked back.

:iagree: because of the mechanics behind it. Due to the random orbital movements the machine will create some degree of vibration no matter what. Some will have more vibration than other but it is the nature of the beast. :props:

I got the GG6 3G with the GG3 during the cyberbusters, however I haven't used them yet.

Yeah, I realized that after the fact...lol! Like I said, I haven't put a machine on a car since back in the mid 90's, just don't have the time, and there were no DA polishers back then I don't think. I returned the GG6 today, will be purchasing a FLEX XC3401 soon.

A lot of guys talk about how the PC is underpowered. I disagree. I think it is just right for light polishing and finishing--what it's designed for. The problem is that guys try to correct with it, and that's just a huge waste of time. With a 5 inch backing plate a 5.5 inch pade I can really put a lot of pressure on the machine without stoping the rotation.

In order to correct with a DA you'll have to have a flex or Rupes or something similar.

IMO everyone should own at least one traditional DA (G110v2, GG6, PCXP, etc). it has multiple of uses with a variety of different backing plates and i wouldn't be without one...

I disagree. It depends on how severe the defects are on a particular vehicle. Paint type, the right pads/products and a little tub of SKILL can really correct some paint defects that others would deem "uncorrectable" with a DA.

Be a man use a rotary! J/K You should give flex a whirl they are great machines and can do a lot
