Disasters while detailing this week... Advice needed/sought!

Does the flat black paint have clear on it?

Yes, it has a clear coat. How many layers I do not know since it was all done factory. I use the word "flat" to differentiate against most paints now that have metallic flakes in them. Sorry for the confusion.

^ You mean non-metallic then, not flat. That changes EVERYTHING

Isn't THAT the truth!
I've been shaking my head all along thinking where in the world did "flat black" 911 come from? And was it 'flat' or satin'! : doh:!

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using AG Online

I use an installer who is the instructor for 3 m , he is sent everywhere to teach how to install including Asia, and Dubai . He says as long as you use a mild polish and it is the top of the line ,thicker film, you can polish it out. I do not polish it if I do not know what it is! But as always like mike says, do a test spot

Whats the exact name of the black? Basalt black?

I would've stopped and sent the car to a professional for correction. I try to detail as much as I can to my carrera GTS, but if I start to screw it up I would rather have someone take over and fix my mistake first then I'd do the easy stuff like washing and waxing.

The official color is black and the salesmen at the delership referred to it as "Flat Black", thus why I have been using that adjective. I am using the exact terminology that the Porsche people have been saying. If I misled anyone, I apologize, but I am just repeating what I've been told (and it looks like I've been told incorrect information.) I always thought flat black referred to a black like David Beckham's Porsche (quick google search if you don't know what I'm talking about) but when the salesmen called the non-metallic flat then I switched.

BTW, Bassalt black refers to their metallic black, as far as I know.

I have had luck using Poliseal on clear bra's with a mild pad like a LC white and a speed of 4 on a PC.
