Distilled water really?

Distilled water is only pH 7 while fresh. The longer it sits the more the pH drops. It can measure as low as 5.5.

We ALL should be drinking distilled water. Our bodies dont do anything with dissolved solids in water except let them build up in our joints as arthritis. We get our minerals from plants that have converted solid minerals to soluble.

X2

Distilled Water is a colorless, odorless and tasteless liquid. Neither Walmart nor Walgreens or CVS adds 'stuff' to it for taste. That is what drinking water/mineral water/spring water is for.

DW is also unfit for drinking. It has a pH of 7 ideally and has no dissolved minerals which makes it not a wise choice to drink (Drinking water has a pH of 7.8-8 which has alkali minerals dissolved in it which is needed for the electrolytes in your body. DW does not have and should not have any of that.

Then the labels are wrong. Both bottles I picked up from two different pharmacy's said there were added minerals.

This is wrong and actually irresponsible to post IMHO. The "dissolved solids" in "regular water" include sodium, calcium, iron, etc... These minerals are essential for life.

One should not drink exclusively distilled water, especially to stay hydrated in the heat. Drinking a little or drinking it here and there is fine - but every time you drink it you are diluting/peeing out electrolytes that aren't replaced with the liquid.

Drinking it to stay hydrated in the heat can be a disaster.

Minerals do not "build up in joints as arthritis"... That is simply not correct.

Can you post a pic of the label?

Distilled water is the real deal.

- No water spots left behind.
- Much better clean and finish.
- Perfect for diluting down product as to not mix minerals with the product.
- Super cheap and economical.

Look at it this way.
If distilled water was just invented yesterday, and marketed to the auto detail community today as Magic Detailing Water, they could sell it for $25.00 a gallon and it would fly off the shelves.

I don't have a picture, but CVS does make DW with added minerals.

Dunno.

Maybe it's something new.

I guess some people have bad water or something because I've never had an issue using water from the hose or faucet when doing a RW. I do use distilled water when doing a WW but I make gallons of it up at a time, so it sits for some time and I don't want anything breaking down, if it even does, never thought to ask about this.....does it break down a WW (faucet water)

The very point of distilled water is to remove minerals that can contribute to acidity or basicity of water.

If you picked up water that said it has added minerals, then I am afraid to say it is NOT distilled water. It is mineral water or some other form of drinking water that is alkaline enough for drinking.

Distilled water is basically water in its purest form with pH of 7 and it is a colorless, odorless and tasteless liquid. One could get this info in 7th grade chemistry if they had paid attention.

If the labels say it is 'Distilled Water' and then say it has added minerals, that is entirely contradicting and defeats the whole purpose of 'Distilled Water'.

It is like buying vegan food and then the label reads 'might contain some meat and animal by products'

There's an old adage that's brought
up on this and other forums that says:
"If it's on you, then it's in you!"
(i.e.: Your skin will absorb water
and most everything that's in it)

This being the case:
Then no matter how "clean the water"
is that's drank...best not to forget about
the water used to take a shower/bath.

Yep...
Really no need to worry about the nuances
of drinking distilled vs. other "clean waters"...
if you are contaminating yourself in the shower.

Bob

Amen to this.

Which is why I should have about 17 types of cancer at this point. :/

Dunno.

You are correct..The water I was thinking about from CVS was an Infant Formula and was purified instead of distilled and had added minerals for added flavor.. what ever that means.

Excuse me, irresponsible? Smh

The Navy has been serving sailors distilled water for over 60 years. How's that for a sample size?

What's irresponsible is perpetuating myths and wives tales and acting like someone else is ignorant when it's actually you. If you have an opinion, state it without getting personal. TYVM

Tell that to the people of Flint Michigan

I understand your point but water quality is quite important. Not just for our cars.

You guys understand the need to keep water clean to wash your cars. Same goes for the body. You can't clean with a dirty sponge.

Reverse osmosis, distillation, whatever purified water should be just h2o. A balanced diet provides all needed minerals.

I am not trying to argue. Just have desire to see people live well.

And I thought H2O was an album by Hall & Oates in 1982.

First, I did not "get personal" with you, but disagreed with your idea that "we all should be drinking distilled water". That is stating my opinion. "Getting personal" to me is name calling, like calling someone "ignorant".

Second, the Navy is using distilled water not because it is "the best" water for you, but because it's READILY AVAILABLE in massive quantities when out to sea through distillation.

If the military had some super secret information regarding the benefits of drinking distilled water for soldiers - wouldn't they be mandating it be served to ALL armed forces??

Dunno man.

Maybe you drank too much DI water???

I didn't know i drank distilled water in the navy for 4 yrs. Maybe that's why I have issues

•Me too;
-so do you use distilled water
when you shower/bathe, brush
your teeth, for coffee/tea brewing,
etc., etc.?

•I'm not trying to argue;
however, believe it or not:
-For every study you can present that
states that drinking only distilled water
is not harmful to humans...I can present
two, or more, stating otherwise.
