DIY Pad Washer

maybe Im spoiled by this forum already, but I would love to see a video of this working

I built one thanks so much to the person who posted the pics. I have about 15 pads to clean this coming week. Will post a short video, if I'm able.

The DIY ones work just like the ones they sell here. I think somewhere there was a video of the one they sell working. Maybe it was a Mike Phillips how to use the pad cleaner video.

Sounds like you built one of these DIY ers, or maybe something close ?????????? :Picture:

Just a January 2025 update on prices. For the PVC, fittings, and springs from Lowes the cost is now almost $74 and that doesn't include the Grit Guard, Bucket, or Pipe Cutter. Maybe as inflation eases the price may come down to a more reasonable level. As it is now, DIY Detailing is supposed to release an economical and simple (no moving parts)pad washing solution in February 2025. I think I'll wait and see how that one is priced. As much as I like the OP's DIY version in this post at $75 I think I'd rather spend a few $$$ more and get a Grit Guard Pad Washer.

My 2 cents. No need for a fancy pad cleaner or special soap/cleaning solution.
3 or 4 inches of ONR in a bucket, simply agitate the soiled pad, by hand in the ONR. Then tape the top rim of the bucket with 2 inch masking tape with the tape folded over the rim of the bucket and folded to the inside. This is so after cleaning the pad you power the polisher on and the tape keeps the spun off liquid from flying out of the bucket.
The good part is most folks probably have everything needed for this. Don't have to buy a thing.

Elliot Ness??? I haven't seen you post in...seems like forever. Glad to see you, though.
