Sigh....

Not good news kids.

Yesterday some idiot at work was too lazy to park her car around the back of the building, so she parked at the curb behind me. She pulled up after I got in my car to run out to lunch.
Long story short, as I was backing out, her car ended up in my blind spot and I backed into it.

I hit my bumper to hers. Both are scraped up and dented.

Though I know my car will get fixed (I have an appt already first thing Monday morning at the body shop), I'm just frustrated that the whole situation could have been avoided if she hadn't been lazy.

Grrrrrrrrrr

OH BOY. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it will be good as new.

Sorry to hear this Monica😥

that sux monica, glad you both are okay. hopefully everything will be taken care of soon...

Thx guys. I hate looking at it when I'm so meticulous about my vehicles.
I'm going to wash the car tomorrow and detail it up so when I drop it off Monday its pristine so they know what kind of a nut job they are dealing with

Ouch! Those sort of fender benders are the worst. If your not already set on a body shop, I highly recommend Brandywine Coach Works over on S. Matlack Street. I've always been happy with the quality of their work.

Thx! I'm actually going with 3D on Boot Rd. they repaired our truck when we had all that hail damage last year and did a great job as well as kept us in the loop the entire time. Very good experience. Plus they are a preferred shop for our insurance company and their work is guaranteed for the life of the vehicle.

I'm still nervous about it but I gotta trust someone, right?

I hear you! I remember that hail storm too. Nasty event. So weird how it only hit a narrow section of the area.

Omg it was insane! We took videos at work while inside helpless as our vehicles got destroyed outside. The ground looked like it snowed.

The truck had $7,500 worth of PDR done to remove all the dimples. Insane.

I'm normally not one to go where an insurance company tells you. But last time I went to the shop we've used in the past they did a piss poor job on my car and my husbands. I actually told the insurance company I'd be using their shop when they asked where I wanted to go.

I also like how I go Monday, they give me the estimate and breakdown of repairs, and I leave the car there and they start on it immediately.

Thx Roger!
Work's been keeping me pretty busy... haven't had much time to do anything.
Next will probably be the short shift kit and get the shift knob put on.

I'm going the opposite route. Looking for an 18" extension and either hand grenade or brass knuckle shifter from the HouseOspeed.

You gonna be drifting?
That sounds cool... pics when it happens.

Well I dropped the car off this morning.

I think they legit think I'm a complete freak. But I was as nice as possible about it. It all started when I said do not wash it when the work is completed.....

I will be getting a new rear bumper. Looks like 4 business days for completion. With any luck, I'll have it back by the weekend.

LOL. You'll have to share a photo of the finished product/ left over body shop residue *if* they abide by your request.

A friend of mine has a house down the street from 3D on Burke Road and used to joke 3D fought the traffic light being put in at the intercession of Boot and Burke because all the accidents where good for business :P

So its just the rear bumper that got damaged? If so, should be a breeze to fix/match the paint but keep in mind that the rear bumper color is NEVER the same as the rest of the car due to the flex agent that gets added to the paint for the bumper. Its something I've always noticed on these new cars and that's how it was explained to me anyways.

Because of how you keep your car Monica I'm sure its going to be an invisible repair and blend in with the rest of the car. BTW is the other car at the same body shop?

WE joked that the one bush wasn't trimmed because it was good for business to the shop manager

It is just the rear bumper. LOL- they were telling me at first that they would probably blend the bumper (this was before they realized they had to replace it). I flat out told them they wouldn't be able to blend the paint.
Keep in mind I dropped the car when it was overcast out. What they couldn't see in the light was the 5 colors of flake in the paint.

Well I'm happy to report that I got my car back and the bumper looks good :dblthumb2:

Even BETTER is that it was filthy when I picked it up. They made a point to tell me they didn't wash it per my request Im the MAN

Great news Monica, how long do you have to wait to touch it with something?

They said I can use a spray wax or something light right away. But nothing hardcore for 30 days.

Nice thing was the body shop rep who helped me pick up the car was a weekend warrior detailer like myself and said he wouldn't have let them wash his car either. Nice to know some people understand :xyxthumbs:
