Would this help with people dragging their feet scratching up the plastic in the jambs

No, the coating will scratch easier than the plastic. I put dlux on my composite plastic truck bed. Not a good idea

I have used Dlux on the trim on my car and easily got over a year of protection in the hot and wet south florida environment.
