James, you should try the Swissvax line of waxes.

I know, I know; there are much more expensive choices out there and possibly those choices are desirable for the really intense enthusiasts here. I'm not judging; my primary passion is poker and my 650 chips set of Paulson clay chips (same type of chips most casinos use) retails for around $825 or so. The custom tables I build and sell can sell for upwards of $2500.

So yeah, I get the 'primary passion' budget looseness, but if my assertion is correct (durability, depth, warmth, liquid appearance) are equal between my 2 'versus examples' from my above post, then I can't imagine going the more expensive route.

By comparison: if those cheap plastic 'dice' poker chips you can buy at Wally World had the same clay consistancy, feel, stackability, mold/inlay design, and sound as my clay Paulson poker chips I would likely have been happy to spend $35 for a 650-chip set instead of the price that the Paulson casino chips commands. The difference is tactile, audible, etc..
In my wax comparison the end results are indistinguishable, so...

But I digress: to each his own.
With all this said though I have to admit that my hobby spending pattern has recently slanted more towards my new detailing passion. Should have known I was opening Pandora's Box with this new car purchase

You are correct to some degree. LSP is only 10% of the final outcome, but us OCD detailers are alway's after that 10% so that equates to more expensive waxes. If your happy with that $20 tin of wax then by all means stick with it. Again, I can't stress this enough, that it all comes down to how well you prep your paint.
