Hey guys so here's my situation. I have Sonax Full Effect, Meguiar's Wheel Brightener, P21S Wheel Cleaner Gel, Muc-Off Wheel Cleaner, and I'm about to order some Chemical Guys Diablo Wheel Cleaner. Not to mention the handful of OTC wheel cleaners. I guess I just haven't found one thats cost effective, safe, and works as well as I would like. Maybe I'm just being to picky. Out of what I listed what one do you like the best and why AND/OR what wheel cleaner do you guys like better and why?

I have the Griots wheel cleaner and have been very pleased with it.

I'm glad you brought this up Shawn. You and I got wheels on the brain today LOL (Per my PM). OPC worked well for me on some really baked on brake dust and grime, but on, say corners of spokes, I couldn't get it off. I was thinking of getting some IronX Paste for that. Don't necessarily want to get the small tube but don't necessarily want to pay $19.99 for the big tube right now. I need something that will work and is cost effective.

I have heard really good things about Griots HD Wheel Cleaner. I may have to give that a shot next!

And your PM got me thinking of wheels lol

Shoeless if you ever want any griots stuff let me know. We have a griots dealer about 20 minutes away from us. We could get together and go up there or I could just pm you directions.

I keep myself limited to 2 wheel cleaners.

Wheel Brightener
Chemical Guys Diablo

That combo hasn't done me wrong yet.

Although... I do want to try Brown Royal.

New formula OPC and P21s Gel FTW!Im the MAN Im the MAN Im the MAN Im the MANSFDABB!!!

griots hd is IME the most cost effective along with 95% the power and effectiveness of sonax.

It sounds like any of the Iron-X products needs to be a staple in a wheel cleaning regimen, although I've never tried it.

I need to take the time to claybar mine and Collinite them, it should make cleaning a SNAP!

I've had pretty good results with Griot's HD wheel cleaner and their Wheel scrubber brushes. I have my wheels coated with Wheel Armour, which does help with all the brake dust kicked up by the BMW pads.

Where!?! We should totally go!

It's a Porsche and Maserati dealer up in Cincinnati. I've been there a couple of time. I always want to take a test drive, but they always say no. Haha.

I have all the wheel cleaners you have listed, besides muc-off, plus more and the only one that I think is great is Megs WB. Its a very good cleaner for the more stubborn brake dust. While not the strongest stuff I've used it is certainly potent. Dont waste you money on CG Diablo. The stuff is useless, imho. The way it works it, or lack there of, makes it seem like CG just put red shampoo in a bottle and called it a ph balanced gentle wheel cleaner.

My goto is Autoglym CWC but you might have a hard time finding the 5L containers but Mothers foaming wheel cleaner is about 80% similar to it. Both work amazing on tires also.

I have a question...
Most of the time when i wash my car... i dont even need wheel cleaner... maybe because i never drive my car out much lol, but i do have some big brembos that produces a decent amount of brakedust and what not, but usually just some car wash shampoo and a daytona brush will take care of everything...

Just makes me curious why i even need wheel cleaner?

If you keep your wheels waxed/sealed and wash often enough that the brake dust comes off easy, then no, you don't need a dedicated wheel cleaner. When I bought polished aluminum rims for my previous daily driver, I slapped a coat of wax on them and kept them nice, slick and, shiny with just water and a little bit of ivory liquid dish soap and a cotton or microfiber rag. Ditto the calipers, 4-pots with very dusty pads. After a while I got lazy and stopped cleaning them, so now the wheels need to be polished again, but simple soap and water worked great when I kept it up.

Optimum Power Clean works great! 3:1 dilution or 1:1 or full strength depending on how caked on the brake dust is. OPC is the best APC out there IMO. SONAX Full Effect is a great wheel cleaner but definately on the pricey side...
