Ok so I have a 2006 BMW 325i with tan interior. I would like to clean it, but am not sure what I should use. Do I need a vinyl cleaner or a leather cleaner? I assumed I had leather and used Meg's Leather Cleaner and Conditioner. Seats are still looking grungy. The thing is should I have used a Vinyl cleaner instead?? Here is a picture of the interior:

if you have the premium package you have leather... You can check the options on your car at the BMW web site, you will need your VIN.

Does your rear view mirror have Homelink? No homelink should be the leatherette.

You can use lexol cleaner for either. If you need something stronger you can use OPC (optimum power clean). Its fine for either also.

If its leather....

I'm not sure about that particluar leather but it's probably finished leather like almost all auto leather.

So, leather or leatherette... you are still not treating the leather when you use x, y, or z, product on it in most cases.

Finished leather has a clear coat over it which means you want to care for the clear coat most importantly by keeping it clean with non aggressive but frequent cleanings if possible. Anyway, my point was that most products made for interiors will work on both vinyl and finished leather.

So, if it's leather make sure it's finished or not.

So, assuming it's leatherette, pleather, vinyl, finished leather, etc the products buddhadog mentioned will also work. If you use OPC dilute it and take care. Ultima interior shampoo gel is an awesome and gentle cleaner that takes on 90% of all interiors with ease. A little pricey if not caught on bogo.

Haven't been on the forums for some time, but wanted to thank everyone for the responses. I picked up a bottle of the Lexol for treating my seats.

Which one is it, then?

Yeah, inquiring minds would like to know, LOL!

it's probably leatherette

my aunt got a 2011 328i executive edition and leather was a 2K option. Needless to say, her seats are leatherette. Diluted OPC sprayed on a terry towel should clean them fine. Don't even bother dressing them though. That stuff doesn't like anything I've tried thus far.

I do have leatherette.
