Do I need anything else to start foaming?

I have been doing a regular 2 bucket wash with a hose for many years, but have finally decided to take the next step to a PW / foam cannon. After a good amount of research, I think I have narrowed my choices to the following:

Ryobi 1600 ($99 HD special)
MTM PF22.2 (w/1.1mm orifice)
UberFlex 30' or Flexzilla 50'

I'm trying to decide if I really need the 50' hose. its for home use and I have enough garden hose and power cord if I need to move the entire setup the length of the car. The biggest vehicle I will be washing is my wife's RDX.

As for soap, I have some Duragloss to get started.

Anything I am missing or that you might suggest to improve the setup?

Thanks

I think you have it covered.......but, do yourself a favor....get the longer hose. Dragging the p/w around with the hose and power cord attached is a royal pain. I had been using the stock 25' hose that came with my SunJoe, and it sucked. I ended up buying a 50' Kobrajet hose (with fittings) from Obsessed Garage and have never looked back. I've never used Duragloss soap, but there are tons of good options out there for the foam cannon. One that will surprise you is Jay Leno's Vehicle Shampoo.....foams well and cleans well.

Thanks, both. I did order the 50 footer, but the Flexzilla. The Uber was not readily available and will have the FZ by tomorrow.

One last question, I was just on the phone with MTM trying to confirm if I will need any fittings or adaptors with the RY141612 / PF22.2 setup. The person I was speaking to could not confirm unless I provide clear photos of the PW connectors, which I can do after I pick it up tonight at HD.

Does anyone have experience with this setup to know?

Thanks again

This is from POWERWASH.COM

It looks like the MTM quick connect fitting might not be compatible

NOTE A specific 1/4″ Male plug may be required in order to attach the QC plug to the end of some residential pressure washer setups. MTM Hydro 1/4″ plugs are standard for industrial use but many residential pressure washers such as Generac, Greenworks, Ryobi, AR Blue Clean, etc… have certain models where the coupler will not receive an MTM plug. Not all of these brands are impacted, just certain models. If you look closely, the Chamfer at the end of an MTM plug as well as the neck is, 1.5mm shorter than some couplers may allow. Once you install the correct plugin your new MTM Foam Cannon, you sill see that it was worth finding this specialized fitting as our foam cannons are second to none, even when manufacturers try to change their fittings!

Thanks, I did read that somewhere. But since it was down to the individual model, I figured best things to do were to try to get confirmation from someone who did the same setup or to just get everything in my hands and the answer will be right there or in a trip to HD

I have a different ryobi but believe the guns are same. Not 100% sure but believe it didn’t connect so I got an SGS 35 stubby gun with wand attachment. Everything worked fine.

Not sure if I buy the wand again but the stubby guns are a must in my opinion.

I got the MTM PF22.2 with their SG28 gun. I realized I did not want to be holding a quart of liquid connected to the end of the Ryobi wand.

One addtiional thought -- I wonder what do most people do to rinse after they foam up their vehicle; do you swap out the foam bottle for a rinse nozzle on the PW wand?

I'd rather not fiddle with swaps, so I am going to try a set up as follows - House water supply into a splitter. One side to PW/foaming setup, other to garden hose with adjustable firehose nozzle. In theory, I should be able to connect/use both PW and hose without any loss of pressure/flow as long as I only use 1 at a time.

The other nice thing about this is I can position the PW, all water and electrical connections, and any noise around the corner of the house. The 50' pressure hose made that possible :)

The quick connects at the end of the PW gun allow you to change the foam cannon to the desired nozzle in literally seconds. I keep the nozzle in my pocket ready to go. Dealing with TWO hoses would make me lose my mind!!

Yes, but the thing I like (am used to?) with the hose, is the great adjustable nozzle I have. Fire Hose Nozzle

I like to rinse the horizontals with lower pressure / higher flow, and a little more pressure for the verticals and inside wheels. Then I will do door jambs and trunk surround with a trickle. I don't think I can get that variability from any device connected to the gun. But I will see what makes the most sense with the new setup.. Thanks

If your using Alklaline or Acidic snow foam I would rinse with high pressure myself.

I don’t attach the wand unless I’m doing a SUV to get into wheel arches and for the roof. I just attach nozzle to stubby gun.

And before I get shot for not cleaning my cars arches I can’t get into the Camaro’s because she’s too low and her sister see’s very little free flowing water.

With stubby gun you can get pretty much anywhere.

After foaming and you are ready to rinse insert a white 40 degree tip in pw and rinse vehicle of debris. A garden hose with any type of nozzle is no match for a pw.

If you want to use garden hose after foaming or whatever the get a small shut off valve for the end of your garden hose so you can quickly shut off water at pw and disconnect it then attach garden sprayer nozzel
