Products in my arsenal:

PC DA
LC Hydro Tech pads
HD Speed
HCC400
DG105
DG501
(BOSS Creams in near future)

Newbie here with less than 10 hours using a machine. I see peeps on here raving about MF pads on their machines. Are they newb friendly? What can they do that the HT pads can't? Do they have a learning curve? Or should I just stay with the HT pads? Thanks.

If you have swirls from say an automatic car wash yes you would like using the cutting pad, other then the worst swirling I wouldnt use them, unless hard paint o/c.

The finishing MF pads are not reportedly the goto for finishing, although a lot of people use essence with a MF fininshing pad.

In my experience, there is no better cutting pad for the PC than a MF pad. As Jeff pointed out, the finishing is not the best. If the vehicle is black you will more than likely have to polish after.

I just recently started using Meguiars MF cutting disks on my PC, i have never used the MF finishing disks though. So far i love them especially with hard clear coats. I have alot of LC CCS pads that i use but the MF cutting disks are my go to pads with deep scratches or swirls.

The Meg's discs will maximize your cut with the PC for sure. I'd also suggest grabbing a couple LC thin wool pads to try as well. Cleaning them inbetween sections with compressed air will help a lot as well. Fluffs the fibers up and cools everything down a little also.

Great tip on the "air fluff!"

I see the AG Store sells the Meguiars MF cutting pads in a 2pk. How many MF cutting pads does it normally take to do a car? Can these be "cleaned on the fly" like foam pads?

Since you are getting the BOSS creams in the future get some BOSS pads as well. The white BOSS pad corrects ALOT .

I really liked the Buff & Shine MF pads. Really cut down my time with great results.

Are those better compared to the Meguiars MF cutting pad?

the GG mf pads are better that the meguires. they last longer and cut better.
the velcro on meguires pads don't stick very good on others backing plates

I like to have them with me as an option, otherwise I prefer foam.

Although with the Rupes machines I tend to cut with their blue microfiber, and Zephir compound.

The foam cutting pads I like are the green buff and shine, and Cyan LC hydrotech.

I do use the blue Rupes foam on occasion too.
