Do I need Pinnacle's Advanced Swirl Remover?

I'm going to be buying my first DA Polisher to use on my Red 02 Jeep Wrangler. My paint is in great condition, with no major swirling or defects. (I've been lucky) My hood however is a different story.

I have minor swirls on my hood, along with very minor type II water spots. By minor, I mean that the swirls and water spots look NOTHING like what is shown in the how-to videos for removing swirls. They're barely there... but yet, they're just enough that they're visible on a sunny day at the right angle. I was going to get a picture, but I actually couldn't get the swirls to show up on my cheap digital camera! =O

Anyways, I'd rather not bump up to the Advanced Swirl remover if I don't have to. I want to preserve as much of my paint and clear coat as I can. I plan on using a finishing pad, or the lightest possible polishing pad I can find. Do you guys think this will be enough? If I have to buy the Swirl Remover I will... but I'm concerned about whether or not it will be aggressive on my paint.

I'm new to DA polishing, and I've read all the guides I can find, but I still have these questions. Thanks!

Depending on what you have available, I would start with a tangerine pad and a finishing polish or AIO. If that doesn't get you to a point you are satisfied with, move to a white or green pad and the advanced swirl remover. Good luck.

I actually have a left over bottle of Dodo Juice Pre-Wax CLeanser Polish that I can try. It should be able to remove swirls I would assume, based on the description. Will I need a finishing polish or glaze after that?

Are u talking about DoDo juice's lime prime?
If yes they are not really made to remove swirls....

You'll likely need the Advanced Swirl Remover. The Advanced Finishing Polish is a light cutting polish, probably not going to be aggressive enough.


I've done a lot of the show car makeovers using these two products so I have a pretty good feel for their capabilities...

I have the polishing abrasive version of the DoDo juice polish. I assumed that would be capable of removing light swirls. Is it more of a finishing polish instead?

If so, I'll go ahead and order some advanced finishing polish. How aggressive is the finishing polish from pinnacle compared to something from Wolfgang or poor boys, etc? Amy particular brand you recommend? Pinnacles swirl remover is considerably more expensive than most others, is it worth it?

I haven't used that exact product yet so the advice I give to everyone is to,

Test in a small area first and make sure getting the results you want, hope for and dream about before using over the entire car.

If so, I'll go ahead and order some advanced finishing polish.

If you're going to get into machine polishing paint, even if it's just you're own cars you need at a minium a medium cut polish. The Advanced Swirl Remover is a medium cut polish, the Advanced Finishing Polish is a fine cut polish.

The Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover is a medium cut polish and the Wolfgang Finishing Glaze is a fine cut polish. The Poorboy's products range from very fine cut to very aggressive cut, there's much more range in the PB line.

Pinnacles swirl remover is considerably more expensive than most others, is it worth it?

If you want a produt that's safe and works as shown in the pictures above, then "yes".

Thank you for the reply Mike!! I really appreciate the help! I've always liked Pinnacle's products, and it's good to hear that I'll be getting great products with their swirl remover and finishing polish.

While I have you here; if you have the time, what's your opinion on BlackFire's Wet Ice over Fire combination? I currently have Pinnacle's SSII wax, but it's running low and I was looking into BlackFire's sealant/wax combo because of all the great reviews.
