Do I need to polish a brand new car before ceramic coat? Any specific coats for white cars?

Thanks for all the responses....

can I use something like Meguiar Ultra finishing polish?

I think I'll be working on my wife's nissan leaf this weekend since it's been a few years since we did anything to it. Wash, clay, polish, rub with 50/50 alcohol water mix then ceramic coat?

The short answers are: Yes and Yes. :)

Be extremely careful "rubbing" the paint with your Isopropyl alcohol & water mix... there is no lubrication with that combo and it would be very easy to instill swirls and scratches. That is the last thing you want to have happen after spending time polishing! Good luck...

My GTI needed compounding when I got it due to the orange peel and some deeper scratches. The car had been test driven a lot I guess, and was even taken home by somebody for a couple days.

I went with Ceramic Pro(car is white also), but for the love of detailing avoid them like Ebola Zaire. Horrible company to work with, and they just want your money and could care less about the quality of their product. Go CQuartz my friend, you won't look back, like me lol.

I'm sure others on here feel the same about CP...the only detailers that don't mind them are the ones making a killing off of rich people who don't do research. I didn't do enough homework and I was hasty to get my new car quoted. I went with the first reputable detailer that got back to me. Unfortunatly, my friend didn't have his new location ready yet, and he couldn't install CQuartz for me. I should've waited....

Good luck and happy coating!

Absolutely clay and polish prior to coating. You'll love the protection from Cquartz. Coated my buddy's pure white '16 Tacoma, you could visually see it become a shade brighter and the glassy finish is absolutely visible on the white.
