I was reading on the forums a lot before I bought my new flex for Christmas, and I was reading somewhere that you should lubricate it somehow...just wondering, do the new flex models need any kind of periodic maintenance done to them? Or was that just for the old models?

Oil the Felt Ring before using the Flex. This is mentioned in the owners manual that comes with Flex Polisher.

I just read through the owners manual that came with my flex (which is written in 21 different languages), and I could not find any information about oiling the felt ring. It says to unpack the polisher and check to see that there are no missing or damaged parts, but nothing that I could find about the oiling. Could you please tell me which section of the manual this is in, and how to get to the felt ring to oil it? Thanks!

Oiling the felt ring came about when some of the backing plates were melting from the heat between the backing plate and the mount. They fixed that problem but from what i read including myself we all still use some light weight oil 3n1 is perfect to lube the felt ring.Remove the backing plate with the supplied allen and remove the Bp on the back you will see the felt ring put a couples of drops on it and rub it in .Make sure to tighten the allen back up and you will be good to go

Thanks Harleyguy!

New Flex owner here... I love it! Maybe this is overkill, but in addition to lubing the felt ring, has anyone considered brushing a little dry graphite or any other suitable dry lubricant onto the plastic teeth of the gearing mechanism? Might extend useful life.

I bought one of the first ones that came over here and have done nothing to it in over 2 years....i quess i got lucky.I also started the thread that got the Flex crazyiness started here with me and ZoranC...has he been back since as i havent seen him post in along time.
