Do you cringe when you see someone wearing watches and rings while detailing a car?

Not married so no ring, but I always take my watch off, more because I don't want it covered in soapy water rather than thinking of scratching the car. Maybe if I didn't mind it covered in soapy water, I might take it off due to scratching but it's never crossed my mind.

I keep my cellphone in the garage because I don't want it getting soaked.

I did a Acura TL this weekend and, took me about 45 minutes to find my weddin ring afterwards because I forgot where I put it I my garage, lol
I had taken my wedding ring off the other day during a detail and set it on a shelf in my garage (can't remember what prompted me to take it off). For about 3 days I had to wear a "back-up" ring that was not nearly as comfortable until I actually remember to get the one out of the garage. :D

Wax with your bare hands? That's fricken awesome, ha.:dblthumb2:
Yep. Any soft to medium paste wax that I use I apply with my bare hands. I don't know if it helps any, but it is kinda therapeutic and relaxing to me. Plus it makes anyone watching think I am nuts! LOL

Exactly.

I have never taken off my ACTS bracelet to detail and as a matter of fact have received compliments for keeping it on... If your running a million miles an hour I can see it potentially being a problem but as has been stated, i usually double fold my towels and palm them so there is no way it would never touch the paint

I take my watch off for the same reason others have mentioned - I don't want soapy water getting on it or between it and my wrist. My bad habit is working on a car with a jacket on without an apron. Sometimes the zipper will hit the paint. I haven't noticed any damage being caused by it but there's probably some slight scratching going on.

I have torn my watch body off my watch band once when removing my hand while cleaning the wheel well area. It snagged on something...I should have learned.

I wear my watch and ring while detailing but I take them off when I'm polishing. Working a machine in odd angles makes it more likely to hit the paint with my watch. The ring though, it would be hard to get that in the mix but I take it off any way. And, I don't want polish debris on my 35-year old Rolex :)
