I am somewhat like Sufer's comment, my wife now keeps an eye on my credit card and purchases.......lol.......so, yes, we have made some cut backs, but you know what? The good thing is we aren't really missing anything, so maybe this is a wake up call for all of us, to watch our wastefullness and appreciate what we do have and be thankful !!

the problem I am seeing is everybody is increasing their prices to makeup for the lost business, and this is not just restuarants. Disney World and others are increasing substantially while most are cutting back. Now if business is slowing because less entertainment expenses are in families pockets do you really think a price increase will bring "more" into your establishment. This is truly a time to conserve and for businesses to offer unique packages and cost saving measures to the consumers in order to increase visitors versus driving more away.

I pretty much never eat out, simply because it's unhealthy. I keep track of everything I put in my body, but to each their own.

very true.. we went to six flags a few months ago and it wasnt cheap. it seemed very busy a ton of poeple . but from what ive heard sixflags is in finacial trouble.. i do relize as a business owner that even though a company seems busy . its never busy enough in these tough times. over head is just way to large . cant imagine the over head of sixflags ..

ive seen christmas stuff out as of weeks ago . and i wondered why so early? then i heard that there trying to strench the holiday longer to make up for most likely slow sales..

I still eat out my usual once a week, if you really think about it, you can eat out for about the same cost as you can buy groceries and cook for. As long as it's not Ruth's Steak House... you can spend smart, important thing is you still have to live! ;)

I don't each out much anymore, maybe 1 or 2 times every couple of months, as the quality has dropped to such a poor level yet the bill for 4 people, with tip, is $50-$70. I can BBQ so much better than the usual chain restaurants, I just buy food from Costco or supermarkets when things are on sale, and do it myself.

To me - the sign of the times is the quality of service. The better the service, the worse the times are. Why, well good people get let go or can't find a job except for waiting tables - and the service is great. The economy improves, they get better jobs and move on and you get the folks that didn't finish middle school screwing up your order.

Still go out one night a week and yeah see fewer and fewer people.
I think the gas $$$ got us. Put a dent in the cash flow and raised other prices.

Well up until this week I had 4 mouths to feed with one income we ate out 2x a month at most. Now that my ex and her son are not around, my son and I will eat out more.
