I've become a big fan of pre-washing. Now that I understand how important it is, I've been using one ever since. I've tried a few and BH Touchless has been my go to.
Cleaning power does seem to correlate with pH. It's not entirely based on pH, as the chemistry has other elements within it that help clean (certain surfactants etc.), but the common denominator is higher pH (or lower).
How do you think creating your own pre-wash would be vs using something like a BH Touchless? I've considered trying Multi-X or any decent APC to Reset as my pre-wash. Could be more economical in a way. I know Brian from APEX and Sandro like Multi-X and have added some to their bucket wash. Sandro may have used Lift now that I think about it.
What got me thinking about this is despite coatings having a pH tolerance range of 3-14, hitting them with a high pH pre-wash regularly should in theory weaken the coating. I can't see how it wouldn't unless the dirt is providing a barrier to the coating and therefore the coating isn't taking the brunt of it.
That led me to start thinking about using a lower treat rate, or more diluted pre-wash that would still be effective, but fall in a safer pH zone for prolonged coating durability. OR, just going back to a good ceramic spray sealant applied periodically.

I use a pump sprayer with Touchless. Works great. I use it before every wash. I'm going to use it until I run out of it. I may end up ordering v2 once I'm out.
Good you like that stuffand it works well for ya. I have half gallon of it left and have not used it in over a year. LolI use a pump sprayer with Touchless. Works great. I use it before every wash. I'm going to use it until I run out of it. I may end up ordering v2 once I'm out.
