Do you see anything wrong with this wash?

idk just doesnt seem safe to me when my SUV is caked with salt n other road grime to use a rinsless wash. I can take my car being in a touchless wash for 3months out of the whole year, when its over 50+ that is when it gets the best treatment in the city but under 32 is too much for me :P haha

While you are talking about washing...It was suggested several times that I wash my car with a Schmitt wash mit. Where do you find this?

Follow this link http://www.autogeek.net/shmitt.html

I have three of them; white, black and yellow/white. You'll be amazed at how effective they are when you use them.

Thank you so much. I had looked on the autogeek site and couldn't find it. Will order tomorrow. I remember your forum name. You have been a big help

i live in MA, and friday we are supposed to have highs of a whole 5 deg.... that being said ive used the touchless washes before, the one i go to has three giant blowdrier type things so drying the car isnt an issue, and while im sure the soap they use is some pretty strong stuff, i ususally only go there on dire occasions, then do a full detail once it gets to be about 35 out.(yeah im pretty crazy, i think i almost got frostbite once lol) also i have about 3 layers of ex-p on my car so im not too worried about it stripping everthing . they get the majority of the dirt off, and i havent noticed it causing any swirls but they are not really that great, they wont clean wheels pretty much at all, but i dont mind using it once in a while as a holdover. for example the other day i used some pb spray and wipe on a small section of my car, by the time i had put down the spray bottle and grabbed my mf from my pocket, the s&w litterally froze to the side of the car so washing the entire car by hand is pretty much out of the question, and if you dont have a garage doing a rinseless wash isnt too convienient either. anyways what my whole rambling is getting at is: they kinda clean the majority of the car, and from my experience dont cause swirls. all in all they arent bad, but i wouldnt live by them

With many people against the touchless wash, what's the best way to get salt out from under the car?

the people against the touchless wash are the people that live in 40+ weather :P I think anyone that lives below 32 without a garage will say its not THAT bad its a hold out untill you can actually detail without the water and products freezing on the car

Teeks..the tire thing is correct. I use one maybe three times a years..mainly winter. I keep a bottle of tire cleaner with me. I have no problem jumping out right before my time to go and spraying my tires.

It was 30 degrees in cleveland today.I did a regular full wash with a light snow falling.I keep hose inside and bring it out when I wash.Hose doesnt freeze. Didn't dry because of the snow plus my hands started to get cold.Leaf blower not an option this time of year.Your better off drying with a waffle weave:righton: I use double soap when truck is full of salt.Still cant get the gumption to go rinseless;)

You're an inspiration. I am a new member with nice expensive products and it will be 15 degrees, snowy, with high winds here in CT. I will forge ahead. One thing, if you have to drive your car and it is winter, and you have to wait 24 hours between sealant and wax, and another 12 hours until a second wax,,,well, how do you clean the car off if you need to take it to work between these coats?

It's almost impossible to keep you car up nice in a cold climate during the winter months. When I lived in Michigan I had an old car I would drive when the weather was bad. With some of the cure times with sealants it hard to do it unless of have a 2nd car to drive in between steps. Unless you have time on a weekend and you don't need to go anywhere it is very difficult without having to rewash you car between putting on the sealant and wax. If you can put a sealant on one weekend and hopefully be able to drive the car without getting it wet for 24 hours, you can wash it and top it off with some wax the next weekend.

ok. I think I'll try and do it on a weekend. I can also share a car with one of my sons if I have to. By the way, those are some beautiful cars in your picture. If all else fails, I will tell my husband we have to move to Florida (although I'm a New England girl by heart). Or we could do what many up here do. Go to florida in the winter (snow birds) and return to New england for the summer. But then I'd need another car...maybe something sporty? You know, this car thing can get complicated. Stay well

My wife use to live in northern Vermont. She came down to Florida when it was 40 below up there and it was 80 down here. She got a job down here and never went back.
