Do you use a wipe down product prior to waxing or sealants?

If your analogy is correct, why do a wipe down for a WOWA?

Simply because a WOWA sealant is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ANIMAL from something like M21 2.0, Menz Power Lock, or Wolfgang DGPS 3.0. The former goes on clean, wipes of fclean, and you walk away, period.

I've never seen one that was anything but clear.

Very similar process to a coating.

The latter you put on... you LEAVE on... (from minutes to hours...sometimes to the point of letting it haze) only THEN do you spend much much more time wiping it off than you'll ever spend wiping off a WOWA sealant.

I have to agree with Bob on the 'process'.
You do a test spot from start to finish, to FIND OUT what you need to do for the entire rest of the vehicle. If your buffing process isn't getting all the paint imperfections out that you WANT it to, THAT is where you adjust your 'process'.

Doesn't mean you are looking for 100% correction. Just means you are "inspecting your work" as you go. Once you reach the desired results, start to finish, all you have to do is repeat that process for every "section".

It's been said time and time again about many product lines that they have "synergy".
Meaning they play well with one another, and WOWO sealants by and large... have proven not to need thorough paint cleansing (as one needs with a coating) in order to bind, stick, cross-link with the paint. Never mind the fact that many of those WOWO sealants are pretty darned oily in their own right. :dblthumb2:

Since when was an inspection (for swirls) wipe-down
not part of "The Test Spot" process?

My point exactly

1.) Sounds like you don't trust your polishing-prowess
enough, in order for you to produce repeatable results,
starting with "The Test Spot"; and, then: from panel to
panel 'til finished.

If you think doing a test spot will mean it will work for the rest of the panels you are wrong. You may not need to be aggressive on other panels or the next panel may need more passes or a more aggressive polish/pad.

2.) Why would you risk imparting marring by
performing total vehicle wipe-downs?

I haven't had a marring problem and that's why I do it.

The former goes on clean, wipes of fclean, and you walk away, period.

Why do you need to wipe down a WOWA sealant? I've used a number of WOWA sealants and after application I never needed to wipe it down. Isn't that what an WOWA sealant is all about..skip the buffing off step?:props:
