I recieved an apron from a da correction kit from meguiars and I have not used it much. I was on chem guys website and saw one I liked, It then thought, hey I had an apron to use to protect clothes, Do you guys use yours?

It's not so much to protect clothes as it is to protect the paint from your clothes.

true, However I come in with stained shorts and legs and arms. Might want to use the apron

Might just want to work a little neater....
Not sure how you get so messy.

rim cleaning. I use gloves too lol

I find them very useful for storing small bottles and such in the pockets rather then setting the stuff on the ground. Of course you have to be aware of the added extension in front of you with the bottles in your pockets.

I showed my cousin and uncles, Larry from Ammo on youtube. They then said "How come you don't have gloves?" Haha now I have to buy the black gloves lol

Huh?

I try aprons every now and then thinking I will somehow like them but thats never the case they usually come right off after about 5 minutes.

I used them (aprons) when I was working professionally, damp sanding, buff, polish, 2-4 cars per day. I needed to because my clothes would be covered in compound/polish.

Just did the repaired panels.

I don't wear an appron, might have to try it and see if I like it. Larry doesn't wear one but Mike does... so I guess it's a matter of preference.

As for gloves, I purchased some Nitrile one, 10 for like 3$. I absolutelly love them! I can't stand having latex gloves on my hands, after 10 minutes all I wanna to is throw them as far as I can. But I wore Nitrile gloves for my last detail for over 5 hours and they never bothered me once.

I wish they were black, that looks way cooler ;) Mine are blue.

Black Mamba Nitrile gloves look pretty good.

I buy the cheap Walmart box of 100 blue gloves.

They said it jokingly (about the gloves) lol but are gloves and aprons just for looks? (For the most part?) unless you are detailing full time.

I just don't let my clothes touch the paint, and why are gloves necessary?

On another note:
I did the baggie test on the BMW jet black paint, it did introduce very light marring/scratches. So that made me not really like the baggie test.

Well from what I understand as detailers we use a lot of chemicals that are not too good for our health. Gloves protect you from having direct contact with them.

Plus, they prevent you from leaving fingerprints and skin oil on the paint and other parts of the car.

Yes I wear an apron 90% of the time. The other 10% I wish I had. If you ever work with a rotary eventually an apron is something you'll appreciate.

Gloves to avoid the chemicals makes sense.

When I did it full time Mon-Fri, 8-5 pm The apron was necessary., but now I do it as a hobby.

I do have my apron though.

^ It's all the way to the left hanging next to my supplies. (Navy Blue)

I wear gloves when I do wheels. The wheel cleaners and degreasers dry my skin out.
