Do you wash cars differently?

Cars like this Corvette usually don't get washed as that would put water into places that cannot be dried and owners of cars like these are cautious about doing anything that could promote rust.

This Corvette was purchased new by the current owner is always garage kept, I'm pretty confident the only cleaning it needs and gets is with a spray detailer. I know the guy that buffed it out too...

My thinking exactly. Of course in this day and age with the number of quality waterless and rinseless washes like Optimum OptiClean or ONR there would be no reason to do anything further with a garage queen.

I would wash them differently, using two buckets, couple of sponges and would do one by one.

Just a follow-up to this thread...

I posted this thread just to see what people think as it relates to washing cars in which the condition of the paint is dramatically different. It's a topic that I was writing about in my e-book and I wanted to see what others on our forum thought. I was kind of surprised at some of the different opinions on the topic but it didn't change my mind.

The way you wash a car that has a flawless show car finish should be very careful and focused so as not to re-instill swirls and scratches into the paint. The way you wash a neglected finish that you're about to buff out is less important because the paint is already in bad condition, the more important aspect is getting the neglected finish spotlessly clean.

Now that my first e-book is finished you can find these topics on pages, 12, 13 and 15

I would run the ranchero through an automatic car wash....twice! :dblthumb2:

Ha ha...

Or wash it with Comet and a terry cloth wash cloth which would effectively remove a lot of the oxidation but also dry the paint out. BTDT

I heard from a guy that bought the Ranchero from the owner of it at the time I buffed it out, he said the paint was still clear and shiny and he found me while researching the car online.

We wash most of the time with a waterless wash (spray on wipe off).

We wash with 32oz hand held pump sprayers, large gallon sprayers, sure shots and other simiular type sprayers.
