Do your neighbors think you're crazy?

No doubt. :props: In the summer, i am out in the driveway at 6am on a saturday. Before the sun hits. Doing the weekly wash/detail on the xterra. But it's all therapy for me. After a long week of work.

The wife thought I was crazy when I used a leaf blower to dry my truck and she told me so did the neighbor because he was watching to see what I was doing. But I had the last laugh because a few days later I called her outside so she could see the neighbor using his blower to dry his car.

by the time i wash it is a little before 9 and he dont like when i use my leaf blower. He said my bedroom is in the front and my wife and son is sleeping. Does anyone else have this problem? And does anyone know what the law is for starting up equipment on a saturday before 9 am?

Many cities and planned developments have noise ordinances limiting activities that generate noise and other things that may annoy neighborhood.

I try to respect neighbors but not using power tools before 9am.

I had one neighbor who counted one summer how many times I washed my car (they included quik details) and the number was near 100. Often times I would wash the car in the morning and use Quik Wax in the afternoon/evening.

I have a new neighbor there now and she is the wife's best friend, so I refrain from using power equipment until after I see her on the porch with her coffee, because her bedroom window is next to my driveway.

I had a neighbor years ago who said i was a "sick man"! I answered "maybe, but the doctor suggested to me that if i'm going to wash my hands 300 times a day, do something usefull".

i Have one neighbor across the street i dont talk to anymore .
I like to wash before the sun comes up. usually start around 8 am.

Legally you can use your leaf blower but you can be considerate and use a waffle weave.

yep, I get this all the time from neighbors....I tell them I am 62 retired and beat prostate cancer for the 2nd time so now I do what I like to do and enjoy myself :)

Of course I have the best looking vehicles in our HOA :)

I'd say you've earned the right to do as you like :)

I don't think there are laws regarding this unless there are noise regulations in your area and I doubt you are breaking those. Some HOAs may have noise regulations as well. My neighborhood follows a common courtesy rule to wait until 10am for power tools if possible.

I like that, good one

My neighbors started ignoring me, before they just mumbled "ah, this guy is always by his car".

My neighbors start washing their cars now after saw me foaming a few times per week Lol :D

I don't really talk to my neighbors, but I'm gonna guess they think I'm nuts. Last weekend I detailed 3 vehicles.

yup.. my response, when my neighbor said that to me " says the guy that spends all day in the sun riding on a lawn mower" lol
I get some questions about what I'm doing i.e. using a leaf blower or two buckets and when I try to explain, I see their eyes start to gloss over..so I stop. Most think its cool b/c my kids are out there "helping" me. Seeing a two year old with a powerwasher is a sight.

I am one of the few in the neighborhood that still mow my lawn. Most of my neighbors pay to have everything done; we don't have a housekeeper, aupare, or cook like many of our neighbors.

I can old imagine seeing the two year getting the power washer going.

I got the comment "you must have the cleanest car on the block" when I had all of my wheels off and I was cleaning the fender well. They also see me washing my car every week.

Not only do my neighbors think I am crazy, so do my son and husband. I don't care, I maybe crazy, but I would be crazier if I didn't. This is perfect therapy, for me and I get a great deal of satisfaction having the "best " looking car on my street.

Someone should tell that to my HOA that thinks it's just fine to start cutting the common areas with their mowers at 7am.

Just last weekend I got the ol' "Want to do mine next?" from my across-the-street neighbor.

I tell them I only do Porsche, Ferrari, Lambos, & McClarens-and maybe it's my imagination but it's typically the same people who say the same lame thing everything week. mmm
