I coated this Charger two years ago

2017 Dodge Charger Daytona 392

It was due for a one step polish and coating once again. There was also a request to paint the calipers red. I didn’t take too many photos of the progress. But I did upload on my channel various products on various areas that I did on this one. I did take paint measurements and noticed higher readings on the front two fenders and and one corner of the hood. The hood definitely looked repainted as the gloss and orange peel are different. Come to find out that it was repainted by the previous owner due to front end damage. The rest of the paint is healthy with an average reading in the 5.5 mil range across the other panels.

The before condition

Test spot with CarPro Essence and a Rupes yellow foam pad using an LHR15MKII. I already knew the hardness of the paint from a couple years ago.

The paint was panel wiped with Eraser and coated with the Exoforma Graphene Coating. This is a one layer only coating. It darkened the paint and goes on pretty thick. Left the surface slick as well.

Wheels were stained. All I could do was clean, prep and coat them with Adams Graphene Ceramic Coating.

The various coatings used. Xtreme Solutions Graphene used on the matte vinyl's which will need to be replaced since they are stained with water spots that could not be removed by polishing.

Great work Guz, especially the side work i.e. the calipersIt looks like your combo corrected very well, how many section passes, just curious

You had me at 392 HEMI. :)

Awesome stuff, Mike!

Love how the Charger looks. If only they didn’t cost $50K…

I followed your work on it while you posted on YT, great stuff.

Test spot was 5 section passes. I got away with 3-4 on other panels. SPS Graphene was long gone. I am always torn with SPS because I want to like it and consistently it lets me down.

Haha. I did clean up the engine bay. Couldn’t leave the HEMI looking sad. I told my buddy to pop open the hood and he texted me the next morning saying how good it looked.

Thanks. He told me he paid $40k for this one that was certified pre-owned. I think he got it in 2018.

What's SPS graphene?

Very nice finish all around on that! Also, subscribed to your channel.

Maybe I missed it, but what did you paint the calipers with, and what was the process?
EDIT: I see, G2 caliper kit.

Great work Guz! The car looks amazing!

Funny thing is this winter you could get one for under $40K! My son-in-law bought a 2020 Scat Pack in January when Dodge was trying to purge all the 2020 inventory to make room for the 2021's and got one off the lot with 10 miles on the odometer for something like $36K before all the fees/taxes without evening having to try. Dodge had serious factory discounts going on.

Yes, I think their MSRP is crazy inflated and they can do lots of discounts. We got my wife's Jeep on December 26 just before the end of the year and they always have good deals then. Took about 20% off the sticker. He showed me he was actually losing money on that sale but by selling one more and all the ones he wanted to sell that last week of the year, they'd get a 6-figure bonus from FCA for selling so many cars so taking a loss on one was no big deal.

Looks beautiful brother! I'd bet he was really happy with the results!
