Does anyone ever wonder were they went????

Not that I am heavy poster, but I tried to keep up with reading the threads at least. I can relate to what was said already, though. This time of year it is hard to keep up with forums because of work and holiday shopping.

And if you ever wonder why so few out of the hundreds of people browsing the AGO forums at any given moment bother to post, you need look no father than the attitude expressed in your post. Senior members with more talent? Would that be the handful of guys who watch these forums like a hawk just waiting to jump the bones of anyone with a newer registration date, less talent, limited displays of their work, etc. that dares to make a post that fails to measure up in the eyes of the senior members?

Take a look at how a few of you guys treated the guy who posted up his rinseless work on the camaro today. Would it really be any wonder if the guy drifted off to being just another of the countless lurkers?

Respect is a two way street and isn't earned simply by some sense of entitlement based on seniority. The forums here at AGO are a fantastic resource. Unfortunately it appears to me that they may be falling short of their full potential due to the antics of a limited few.

I think everyone could be a little more respectful and tolerant of each other !

I think I have an answer to this question:

http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/wool-foam-buffing-pads/31269-da-vs-rotary.html

Specifically post #8. When you have newbies joining and then disrespecting senior members who have more talent and have provided more help, countless displays of their work, etc., do you really expect them to stick around and put up with it?

:iagree:
Very well said Richard!! In addition to that I have noticed a few who rattle on like they are "Joe expert", when in reality they are usually providing poor if not destructive advice. Then when you ask them to provide some kind of validation of their work (like pictures) they provide a few pictures of a vehicle from a distance, in the garage, or in the shadows. I just hope that most will be able to descern this and avoid a grizzly disaster:dunno:

Slow down there sir. That guy had no right to call JLB85 a nasty name. His attack was not called for. And I didn't say anything bad about the rinseless work. I was intrigued by the fact that one member posted less than desirable results and another posted fantastic results. I simply asked for pictures because I was curious. It's a discussion forum, people discuss products and procedures. That's exactly what I was doing, discussing his technique compared to another member.

Jenn comes to mind. She used to be on constantly but I haven't seen her on in a long while.

And once again you did it in a manner that would make many feel as if you believed the OP was unaware of the damage he may have caused. Worse yet, others shortly followed who hinted at the idea that he intentionally attempted to hide the truth by failing to provide the sort of pictures some expected. For Christ's sake, just read the words of darkhorse above.

I realize you and the others fail to see how others may view your "discussions" as anything but 110% positive. However I am not the only one who gets that impression from a few of the more active posters. Doesn't make either of us right or wrong but it is something that anyone who really wants the best for AGO ought to pause and consider.

Richard, I would just ignore him, like most do. You can't expect anything more from someone who has nothing substantial to contribute.

Joe you have no room to talk. You are always the first one to take a jab at a member for posting his opinion that you don't agree with...

Seriously? I DO NOT control what other people post. They post what they feel like posting. Why are you taking my post out of context? Just because I am curious about his technique and asked for additional pictures makes me a bad person? Like many other people here, I have a thirst for knowledge. One person posted a bad experience and another posted a good experience. I'm sure I'm not the only person here who had the same question - What was different other than the product that caused one good and one bad experience.
