Does anyone routinely do underbody wash/detail?

Spent hours today cleaning the undercarriage of the 16 Buick Encore. I used purple power, hot water, various brushes, a old mf mitt, four jackstands, a full face shield, a creeper, and about four hours.

Long winter with not enough maintenance washing. Spring undercarriage wash was a bit longer this year. Thank goodness it doesn`t look bad after cleaning. The odd thing I did was put cmx on the muffler. You can see the muffler when walking up behind the car or following it. It`s a black muffler that quickly looks horrible. I guess I`ll see if it can take the heat and if it helps keep it clean.

Now that’s impressive. Great work and awesome post.

I spray down the undercarriage once a month or so. (Actually states to do this in the owners manual).

Before the first snow/freeze here in NY, I get under the truck and let loose with about 3 cans of Fluid Film.

I don't have any pics, Ric. Just imagine the bottom of a truck with everything but the exhaust all oily and dripping. Lol

Cmon Paul, you see how he did it? Step your game up!lol.

Yeah, there always greater and lesser people than you in life. I'll be the lesser on this one.....:laughing:

You could make it up by putting that top on your truckbed, and polishing it up!lol.

I hope your cat pees on your shoe. :bat:

It’s funny you say that, because my cat has a friend who’s becoming more and more familiar around here in regards to hanging around more.
Lately when I see him outside the door late night I’ll bring my boots inside because I think he may do something stupid and maybe pee in them.

That’s him on the left.

My cat’s in the box.

He’s a funny cat. The only cat my cat ever lets hang out like this. Lol.

Every wash I hit it with a good rinse. Today I got a little OCD. Hit the DSSV Dampers, Front skid plate with Hydro Blue. And shot the spare tire with a water based dressing.

I don't necessarily 'detail the unders' (except wheel wells), but do use an oscillating lawn sprinkler. Especially after a winter of salt/sand (which is every year).

Surprisingly, you can get a lot of the stuff out. Just move it around and you can get probably 99% of the area.

Well I put my car on the lift this morning while doing an oil change on my 2010 Accord Coupe. For the most part, everything was pristine

Here’s a photo of the engine with the oil filter removed:

There were some tarnished areas of the exhaust that quickly cleaned up with Collinite Metal Wax. Mine was old and dried up but I just added a little bit of water and it was like new again

I highly recommend Collinite Metal Wax for any garage to have on tap for exhaust polishing

Someone had recommended it and I used this on my muffler.

BTW, I thought about getting this below.

I have all the Wolfgang metal products too but haven’t used them in a long time.

How are you liking the metal sealant. I find it to work pretty well.

we have a brushless was in town. $12 a month for unlimited. My truck and wifes explorer go through it constantly from november through april. the underbody part is honestly the most important feature to me given our heavy salt winters in upstate ny. neither see any negative effects from the process and still get their annual polish and seal in the spring.

WOW! That's a great deal!

Have the same thing here, but it's $30 for the 'cheapest' wash (no UB wash, just splash and dash).

yeah it's normally like $20 but they run specials in early November, which is kind of odd as that's when everyone buys theirs. I cancel in April. It includes some protective waxish stuff too.
