Does anyone use a sponge for a Rinseless Wash? If so, what brand?

Yes it does but of course I use the grid card and squeeze it a couple times to make sure I get everything out.

Got it. So the sponge absorbs the dirt. I was imagining it would just push the dirt around.

Thanks!!!

When I first started doing RW's I used the Aqua sponge all the time with no issues but a mf wash mitt with the little fingers all over the place is also a fine choice.

Have you tried the Aqua sponge?

Seems similar to a grout sponge?

It is a grout sponge and it's very pores, so it holds alot of dirt. When the car has standing dirt on it you'll have to dunk it clean more often and possibly change out the rinse water more often but that should make you feel better knowing a) your Aqua sponge is grabbing the dirt and b) your RW is doing it job.

While I'm at it I can't stress this enough, pre-treating when doing a RW is ohhhhhh so important

Did you see dirt in your drying towel? That is the common complaint i see when using BRS.

No dirt because I do multiple passes from the bucket to the panel. This really helps the sponge absorb whatever dirt is on the panel and release it into the bucket.

Thanks! Glad you found a nice RW method!

I never had the issue of dirt on the drying towel from using the Aqua sponge either. When I would do the lower panels and I knew it was dirty I would make a single pass, dunk in the rinse bucket and squeeze a couple times and back to it.

Nice. Well, i am outside the US and i don’t think i can find aqua sponge here. Maybe i can order some from amazon with my next AG order. How long does one aqua sponge last you? I do RW weekly.

I always bought the Aqua sponge from EBay and it's not all too expensive, so I would get one once a year to be on the safe side, maybe use the old one on your tires or engine bay to get more use out of it.

When your supply gets that low do you start to question which cars are spongeworthy?

Just saw this comment a month after it was posted. I STILL have that last sponge from three years later. It's kinda retired, but I still haven't thrown it away yet. The sponge suffered a few tears from sharp emblems got worse over time. I'll eventually use it for something...maybe I'll dedicate it to washing the lawnmower. I borrowed that image of the box full of sponges from someone over at the meg's forum IIRC. Even though I no longer use sponges for rinseless washes, I wouldn't mind having more of them for occasionally using on traditional hose washes.

One sponge a year?? That is one tough sponge.

Oh it doesn't go bad but after a lot of use the staining doesn't go away and although I know it's still good I would just buy a new one, it's like $10.00. There are a couple different sizes available.
