Does this look like a professional job?

My suggestion would be to take it back and show him the holograms and ask for a refund. Don't let him try to fix anything. He obviously thought he could get away with that and with most people he would have. If he says no, give him some bad reviews on the web and he will be sorry. Remember, most people don't know the difference between a swirl and a squirrel. ANother possibility is that one of the lower level guys did it for the owner and it got past the inspection. You never know. See this.

Ouch!! I would not even bother taking it back to him and do it yourself. I used to have a Miata and they are really small sports cars. You could finish the job in a short time. The car is small enough to where you could finish in 1 day.

Why take the chance of bringing it back again and have the possibility of the person messing up again.

That car is too nice to have someone mess with it. I say do it yourself and it will look like the way you want it.

PS: Your MX 5 is beautiful in Black

Thanks Kamakaz1961, for the compliments on my car. Yea, I don't want to take it back to that company for a 2nd try. On their website it says they offer a 100% money back guarantee. So I'm going to email them with pictures and ask for my money back. The cost for this job was $400, the car had 170 miles on it when I took it to them.

I would like to believe I could do better, but I'm just not that confident with my skills, I'm definitely a hobbiest, not a pro.

Looks like just a rotary was used. I don't know how soft Mazda paint is... But if it's extremely soft I would be a little concerned about how much clear they removed...

Hmmm, I don't know how soft or hard the paint is? I hope they didn't do to much damage or remove to much clear.

I would take it back for a full refund. They not only messed up your paint, but you now have to have it corrected again. Or see if they have someone more skilled with a da.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, they are pretty much like mine. When I picked it up it was 5:30 in the evening with lower light. Now that I see it in the full sun, I'm a little surprised.

Sorry this happened to you and its another reason why a rotary isn't for me, you really, really need to know what your doing! I hope you get that special Miata all squared away, its a special car!

If you manage to get a refund, take it to Will:

Windows and Wheels Detailing - Arizona's Premier Auto Detailers -

He's local to you, I believe.

wow. i'm the type of person where i wouldn't charge someone for anything until i knew my skills or product was perfect. this is not perfect. i polished my black car 3 weeks ago, and then coated it with pinnacle black label. i live on a dirt road, and washed it 4 times since then, and it still looks like i just polished it when i am done washing. demand a refund. getting angry with the guy will serve no purpose, just get your money back.

this is why i use amex for most things. all you have to do is tell them if they don't refund you will get amex involved. that usually speeds things up. just had a hack tint job done on my car, and had to get a refund, and this worked.

I would ask for a full refund, not repair. In most cases, a repair would be fine but my concern is that they "wheeled and filled." So a repair will only get you back to square one. Not worth it.

There are plenty of good detailers in your area including Will's Windows and Wheels. They will take good care of you.

its like sending food back in a restaurant. even if it was wrong, it is most likely gonna have spit on it when it comes back.

$400 for a car like the Miata? Unless it was a 2 step or more then That;then I understand.

Get your money back and seek a detail from the guys in AZ that are here on AG.

That's what an inexperienced guy with a rotary will get you.

Yep! Right on the money! The detailer you used doesn't have the finesse to finish polish with a rotary. Had he used a DA to finish out, the result would have been much better! You should definitely bring it back and let them know you aren't happy with it!

If it wasn't clear based on previous posts, that is not a result of you washing, that is the result of a rotary buffer. Do not let them blame this on your wash technique.

If this truly did not become visible until after you washed it, then I would question if any type of durable acrylic product was applied.

1. Do not let them touch your car again.
2. Have the paint thickness checked, who know how much they needlessly removed. Maybe they can do it, or find a local geek.
3. Get your money back and find a local geek or DIY.

Don't be rude. The guy might know what he did, or he might not. Regardless, he left your paint in a state of disrepair.

Please let us know how it turns out, and how solid his money back guarantee is.

Rotary+wool pad plus unexperienced detailer equals that. I would never pay top dollars on a dealership ever. Not worth it. I wouldn't even bother taking back, they will make it worse. You are in Arizona I believe, Will and his Sister, will do wonders, WindowsandWheels Premiere Detailing. Just contact them and they will fix that for you. I will even level with you, get it coated, worth the money.

Thanks Audios S6 for mentioning that. I didn't think it was how I washed it due to the type of marks that are left.

Yeah, I won't be rude. This company has been detailing cars for many years here locally. As someone else in this thread mentioned, maybe they are no up on the latest detail standards or practices?

I'm hoping they will honor their "satisfaction money-back guarantee" and give a full refund. Then I can either get it done right or try it myself.

I suppose it could have been your technique if you can spin a wool wash mitt at 3000 rpm. If so, you may be able to find a career in kung-fu movies.

I had my new car professionally detailed two weeks ago. I paid dearly to have the paint "corrected" and then to have a Acrylic Sealant applied. My car is mainly a weekend toy and I've been really busy at work. So today was only the 2nd time I've had it out of the garage since I had it detailed. I have washed it twice since it was done using the "Garry Dean" method.

When I first brought it home I thought it looked pretty good, but I really didn't "study" it. However today when I walked out to my car after a lunch out I noticed a bunch of swirl marks in the sun. Like I said this was just professionally detailed 2 weeks ago. I'm disappointed... or am I asking to much for a black car?

I think I could have done better myself with my Groits Garage polisher and some M105 & M205? But I wanted to start out with a "professional" job.

What do you pro's think? I hate to take it somewhere else due to the cost and now it has Acrylic Sealant on it (at least they said it did).

opinions?

1st picture was the day I brought it home. Rest are from today.

Man that looks bad they took a rotary to it and put in holograms I would try to get the money back and go somewhere else if you don't my me asking how much did you pay?

So on a brand new car, it would seem like you could pretty much go with a finishing polish and pad right away. Is it possible to do this with a finishing polish and pad with a rotary? I don't use a rotary for finishing, which is why I ask.
