I have heard some say that Pinnacle's XMT360 has fillers in it to hide imperfections. I do not know if it is true or not. So I did the fender with a tape line. The pc and a low profile org pad. After I was done, I did a IPA wipedown TWICE just to see if it hid anything.

So what do you think.....

My conclusion: it looked like it did before I did the wipedown.

I have never used XMT360 before but a true test for filling would be to apply 360 by hand and take before and after shots w/ tape. That way you take the orange pad variable out of question. But thanks for the picture, that's a great turnaround for an AIO.

The XMT 360 is designed for use by machine application and if used correctly, by machine, it will clean the paint, REMOVE IMPERFECTIONS (not fill them in) and leave behind a layer of polymer protection.

Nice demonstration Ed. Guess we have true answer.

I still don't believe that this is a true test. It is very possible that the orange light cutting pad with the polish removed the swirls, not making the filling ability present because there aren't any swirls left behind to fill. A true test to test the fillers of the product, not the function of 360, would be to apply it in a less aggressive manner and then to see if any swirls were left behind or filled. I would do such a test but I don't have any 360... that being said, I have no clue how aggressive the abrasives are in 360 but comparing other AIOs they must be pretty strong after seeing some very deep swirls being removed.

This Cobra I did awhile back look like someone took a brillo pad and gasoline to it. I used 360 with a lo-pro orange and the results were up to par with a any light polish out there. The fender to this day has never returned that nasty smear/haze and the swirls weren't there the last time I washed it with CWG... I still like 360 when I'm able to use it.

for some reason i never had good results with my 360, it seemed to always leave a film on the paint??

But those results looks great.

Ok, so what is the best combo for each machine, what pad to use, and what speed if need applied:

PC

UDM

Flex

Rotary

Cyclo

I have gone through an entire bottle of 360 used with edge blue and white pads and the cutting abilities were next to nothing. It goes on thick and polishes out in 1-2 passes. The bottle says no buffing required, but even after buffing there are so many spots on the car where polish is left on thick. I fear I put more swirls removing the polish than the swirls the polish removed. I have another full bottle I will never touch, and a full jar of 180 that I also wont touch after being so unimpressed with 360.

Im guessing budman is right, it is the pad doing all the work, 360 imho is the absolute worst polish my pc has ever come across.

Sorry to hear that. Did you shake the product before use and not use to much product when applied to pad? Just curious.... There has probably been 100+ show and shines listed here with great turnarounds using the 360, but for one bad instance leads me to believe maybe operator error?

I don't think I've ever used XMT360 without a orage pad

I have personally experience filling with 360. If you dont work it until its gone with the machine, then it is a paint to remove. With the PC it only needs 1- 3 passes before its gone. I dont think it should be used with the rotary, maybe not the flex either.

I totally agree. I never use it to fill-in swirls, I use it as a paint correction product while I'm applying it if need be. I use it after a polish, and by itself to clean, and correct minor defects such as car-cover induced marring. It works great for that when using an LC orange pad, or even with a polishing pad it will give you some nice results
That's better than filling-in swirls IMO
For best results, make sure you work it in until it disappears into the finish, as this is the way it is designed to work. Awesome gloss, top it with the XMT180 for some wow factor :D

PS: just got my PS Paste Wax. I can't wait to top XMT360 with it!

I will gladly trade you for the 360 and 180 or but it from you. PM me want you need in trade or cash.

I was very harsh in my last comment on 360 so I thought I would be a bit more fair as it is not a horrible product, it just is a very poor polish. Below is what I wrote to another member asking for a sample.

I have tried it on a heavy swirled car as a finishing polish after SSR2 and it did nothing, I also used it on a brand new car to remove swirls that the dealer put in on their pre-delivery detail, again it was not effective at removing minor swirls. If a product doesn't work as stated the first time, I usually discredit my technique and give it another shot, but after 3 uses and a full bottle I gave up on it.

The people that are seeing success are using a heavier pad, and as I understand it 360 is better at cleaning and sealing than polishing. The cars I used it on did infact shine and the paint surface was very smooth, just it could not cut through even the smallest of swirls. And after an hour I started seeing spots all over the car where polish was left behind so thick I could not easily buff it off, I had to go over the car with SSR1 to remove it and a final coat with DGPS, completely defeating the purpose of using and AIO product.

Thanks Ed for sharing. I was wondering if it had fillers and it dose not...It just good stuff..LOL...:buffing:
