For now I have crappy plastic Totyota hubcaps and aluminum wheels.

Should I just remove the hubcaps and clean the wheels as per the directions on the autogeek site?

Will removing the hubcaps frequently to clean the wheels make them more prone to falling off?

Is there anything I can use to keep the hubcaps in good condition? Will the Pinnacle Vinyl and Rubber Protectant work on them, or should I seal them with Klasse, or put wax on them, or what? Any advice is welcome.

Sorry if I seem like a goob but this really is all new to me. I had NO IDEA taking proper care of your car's aesthetics could be so involved! :o

I highly doubt you have aluminium wheels with hubcaps. I bet you have steel wheels. You can pretty much anything on steel wheels, I'd start with a good APC and give them a good scrubbing. Since your hubcaps are plastic, taking them on and off a bunch of times will probably wear them out.

Yeah, Toyota's would be steel. The DP gel wheel cleaner is excellent on all wheels and also those plastic hubcaps. You just spray it on, agitate with a soft bristled wheel face brush and rinse and they're all clean. :) You can use the DP Wheel wax to protect the wheels and hubcaps too to keep them cleaner longer. http://autogeek.net/dpspwhkit.html

I hope this helps you. :)

Oops. Okay, yes, steel wheels. :o

No frequent removals of the hubcaps. That's good to know.

I looked the DP wheel package, but in the interest of keeping down the expense a little (I'm already way over budget, buying stuff here is like eating Godiva chocolate or whatever your poison is, you can't stop at just one :D )...what about using DP Cleanse-All and Aerospace 303 on my wheels and tires?

If I'd be much better protected by buying the specific tire products, I will, but I'd like to try to make at least a couple of things do double duty if possible...and if it's a question of a only small difference in the quality of the protection.

Thanks again for the prompt replies...

:iagree: Get some gel wheel cleaner since you will not be cleaning wheels frequently, some DP Wheel Glase for repelling brake dust (will last you longer then Poorboy's wheel sealant or Wheel Wax) and some tire gel. It shouldn't cost a lot, and you will love results. No frequent removals of the hubcaps. Once a month should be fine.
