Done With Wax on Daily Driver

Maybe someone smarter than me understands this. But, how come Pinnacle Glass Sealant seems to be unaffected by salt snow (not wipers, as I don't use them) - but, regular sealant doesn't seem to hold up.

I've noticed this phenomena many times. Is it the product (glass sealant) or the glass surface that holds it better?
 
I have no experience with 915, but am surpised it was so short lived. The 845 I put on my car in November is beading like it is brand new. The Klasse SG applications I put on my wife and daughter's cars are still going strong as well.

This has been the worst winter in this area in 40 years, and I'm quite pleased by the protection I've been able to get out of those products. I typically get six months out of SG and was figuring the conditions this year would reduce that to around four, maybe five at most. However, it looks like they'll easily make it another month or so.
 
I'm done with wax simply becuase coatings repel dirt better.

To answer your question, my BFWD sealant and a mix of CG Blacklight has given up as well..maybe not 100% but enough to dissapoint me. I went ahead and bought a garden sprayer, put some APC mixed with either Snowfoam or CG Citrus Wash n Gloss, added warm water, shook it up, agitated the car, and high pressure rinsed it all away.

I will be doing that going forth next winter, it cleans the car pretty well.
 
I used Blacklight topped with Chemical Guys Black wax and it is still strong 6 months later with the same shine as the first day I applied it and my car has been driven all winter long with nasty snow and ice storms with lots of salt and road grime. I just use the waterless wash I have and it wipes right off the first time. I guess the issue with your wax is either a bad batch or wax or an error in application. The better the prep, the better the performance.
 
There's certainly nothing wrong with a coating, considering how tough or PA winter has been, but I've been very happy with the combo I used this winter on my DD. It stays outside 24/7 and gets a DG or ONR wash at least every two weeks. I did DG501 first, then about a month later used DG105/601 followed by Collinite 476. I have used DGAW as a drying aid, once in January and once in February. So far, it's still beading and sheeting well. I've tried a few different combos the past three winters, all using Colli products, but the Collinite / DG stackup has outperformed them all.

I have had the same luck with sealants and waxes they just never lasted through winter for me. Someone always wants to argue and tell you they used the same with worse weather and it lasted until they wanted to change it. I coated our cars with OC 2.0 and no issues yet
 
Awesome. Welcome to the darkside. The only thing I haven't stopped using are sealants. Only because I have about a bottle of BFWD left. After that, it's coatings for life.

3. hydro wax as you dry for maintaining

5. WG trim sealant
6. DP wheel coat
7. DP glass coat

PA winters just plain suck! But i felt prima helped save the finish.

I was beginning to think I was the only one that figured this out! I did a single coat of Hydro Seal Max in early Oct, and I freshen it with Hydro after a I wash. Still beads beautifully, after snow, Magneseum Chloride, and the general abuse of a Colorado winter.

Plus, it's so easy to use, there is no reason not to keep it up!

PA guy here also. This winter was extremely vicious between the massive doses of salt and road craters,lots of damage done to cars. What got me thru on my 2006 Trailblazer was Pinnacle Black Label Paint Sealant. I applied 2coates and topped it with Prima Hydro Max. It really seemed to hang in there and repel the salt.
 
I think I'll be using C Quartz come fall. I've been so impressed with DLux, it lasted through the winter like nothing touched it.

Maybe I'll try the Pinnacle if there is a good sale.

Until fall - Wax Wax baby.
 
Here in n.y terrible winter. had pinnacle souveran on it.
looks good, still beads but i can feel it needs a clay job.
But i just got some c quartz and am looking forward to applying it.
If this dam winter would let up. lol
 
I find sealants work well as long as you boost it each time you wash with a spray wax (tough to beat Aquawax or Optimum Car Wax) or something like UWWplus when wiping dry. I have Poii-Seal on my truck and it's still beading. When I wipe it dry I mist it with Optimum Car Wax first. I wipe off excess water with a damp microfiber towel with OCW sprayed on it or misted on my truck in the area I'm drying. If you think about it you're basically doing a rinseless wash with ONR or a waterless wash with UWWplus after already cleaning it if you use this method. I used this method for a few years then noticed AMMO Hydrate came out and does the same thing.

The thing is, the Collinite 915 only lasted between one wash to the next. However, that was about 2 months time and the car went through the worse filth and snow you can imagine.

While Colli 915 looked and beaded well; and was easy to apply - I wasn't super impressed with the durability. Black Ice on deck - we will see, until coating for next winter.

BlackICE really lasts a while. It's been on a friends daily in Las Vegas and last time I saw him it was 4 months in and thing was beading like no other thing I've ever seen.
 
I'm done with waxes too. They look nice but it's just too much to keep up. Duragloss coating as soon as the weather breaks.
 
I don't use waxes just polymer sealants and occasionally acrylic sealants. I boost them each time with a spray sealant such as Aquawax or UWWplus or ONR Wash N Shine for lubrication. I don't like putting dry towels on paint. Even wet paint. I'd rather have a lubricant mixed in there and found these products as well as others work great and give your paint that just detailed look and feel. When in a hurry I will walk around misting the entire car then wipe it off quickly with a guzzler. It adds less than a minute to the drying time. I see no reason to not do it and have witnessed several reasons to do it.
 
I will never ever put wax or a sealant on my car again. This winter sealed the deal for me. I had CQUK on it and after dozens of touch less car washes the paint looks near perfect. I literally haven't laid a finger on my car since last October. You'd think I hand washed it every week.
