DP / BF MF Wash vrs All Free & Clear

I have been using DP and BF MF in the washing machine to wash MF towels interchangeably for about the past 4 months. Before that I was using All Free and Clear. I switched when I started to get curious if MF dedicated detergents really made a difference, or, if you just paying extra for the ingredients you were not getting; like fabric softeners or scents.

I was putting some towels away and noticed some of the same set of towels I had just washed but haven't used for many months. Last time I used them I washed them will All F & C. I always use white vinegar in the final rinse and wash on hot and dry on medium.

I was really struck by how much fluffier and softer the towels washed with BF or DP MF wash were. On closer inspection, the BF/DP wash seemed to make the fibers fluff or plump up. Also, the colors appear much more clean and vibrant with the BF/DP washed towels. It's more noticeable with the blue towel in the pictures, but in person you can tell more with the yellow. Both towels are the same 360 gsm towel, the gold ones are from AG, the blue ones are from MF Tech.

So the moral of the story is all detergents are not created equal for microfiber towels. In person, the difference is night and day. All towels of the same color were purchased at the same time and have seen about the same amount of use, as I rotate through a stack of them.

I never used CG MF wash. I stocked up on AG brands when they were BOGO.

I absolutely love Pinnacle for my microfibers, but just purchased a gallon of the BF Wash recently, can't wait to try it out!

I use CG, and results are great. I have tried 4 MF washes and I rank BF first, and CG second.

Nice. I too was quite surprised when even my cheapo walmart MF turned out softer and more fluffy than BRAND NEW. I used Blackfire. I plan on buying CG in the gallon size when my BF bogo runs out.

- is All Free & Clear liquid? If so, I think you should try some basic detergent in powder - from my experience, they work better and tend to be more "free" from unwanted "extras" (softener comes to my mind);
- what were the temperatures used?

All F & C is a liquid. My gut would tell me to stay away from powders, as they feel abrasive and the possibility exists small particles may possibly not dissolve and remain in the towels causing scratches. I don't use powder detergents to wash my clothes, because I've noticed occasionally some of the powder won't go into solution and will remain after the wash. I always wash on hot , dry on medium heat, and add distilled vinegar to the final rinse.

Another thumbs up for an excellent review. Very helpful for those (like myself) that are on the fence. I figured clean detergent + vinegar = more than adequate, but this thread has me thinking otherwise.

Aside from the obvious (thank you for the photos - like Viagra for MF), have you detect any noticeable differences, characteristically/performance wise, between the dedicated stuff vs reg?

In this kind of thread about MF's and its cleaning processes I always come to the conclusion that washing machines and detergents are very different in Europe. I think it's a mix of regulatory issues and tradition.
