Dr Colorchip...before and after...

I used dr colorchip on my 99 civic SI today. 172XXX miles had really taken their toll on the paint. I applied it to all of the front bumper, lip, entire hood, both mirrors, some spots on the roof, behind the rear wheels, and some on the side skirt. I ran out of paint so I couldn't do the entire car as planned.

The results pretty much speak for themselves. Here are the befores...

This really shows the damage to the hood. This went nearly all the way up the hood. The whole hood was treated.

You will still see the pitting unless they are very shallow. If its an actual chip, it will not fill it.

It was hard to even capture all the damage in photo's. In person you could really see the extent of the road rash. Up close you can tell something is up with the surface but you have to be very very close. This is a huge improvement though and well worth the time and money.

This is true. Which is why it hides road rash so well because they are small and shallow.

What about the color matching?

Color match is good also. A red dot stands out much less than a white dot.

That looks great for a 10 footer car and sounds like it's even better than that. I have a car that lived through about 10 years of constant construction zones and would benefit greatly.

I bought this car about a month ago to keep the GTO parked. This car is truely a gem. 1 owner 99 si with lots of maintenance records. The car is truely 100% bone stock. It is ridiculous clean also. No wrecks, mostly factory paint except for hood. Not even a door ding. The interior is easily a 9.5 as well.

Here are a few more pics of the car from the day after I got it. I had done some light cleaning, swirl correction, and opticoat 2.0.


I have put 3 tanks of gas through this car. Best mileage is 34 worst is 30.2. I have had this car for about a month.

I did a quick detail job on it and made the headlights clear again. I did not attempt to get all the swirls out due to old ass original paint. I just wanted to make it presentable for a daily driver.

I washed it, did a quick 2 stage buffing. IPA wipedown and opticoat 2.0

Pinnacle shampoo wash
Wolfgang Clay
Pinnacle wash again
Menzerna on a white pad with my makita (don't remember what polish SIP maybe)
Menzerna on a gray pad with makita (again don't remember what polish)
Wash again.
IPA Wipedown.
Opticoat 2.0

I plan to re apply the opticoat soon. I tried applying it with a microfiber applicator vs foam and just do not feel it applied right and it is not beading like my GTO and Camry are.

It is a great DD. 34mpg last tank plus very fun to drive. It gets more attention than my GTO does LOL.
