These are from May of this year, after I had my paint correction done. We realized I had many small rock chips, and some areas that were sprayed with debris from the roadway. When my Trailblazer SS was my daily driver, I cringed when I would hear stuff hitting the truck when on the highway, especially behind big trucks.

During the paint correction process, Rob at Glimmer Glass Detailing told me about this stuff called Dr. Color Chip. He said he used it a lot previously and said it works wonders. I went ahead and bought the kit from the website (Dr.ColorChip Custom Automotive Touch-Up Paint Kit - Dr. ColorChip: Automotive Paint Chip Repair Systems) It's cool because it gives you correct matching color for your paint, and it includes this product called "Seal Act Blending solution."

The process began after the truck was washed, and the previous wax/sealant was removed from the appropriate areas. Here's some pictures of the damaged areas. the pics arent great, but it shows most of the damage.

i meant to take pics of the fenders where it was more smaller chips, like sprayed areas, the ones i had didnt come out good.

After you find the chips or spots you want to repair, the kit comes with a little brush to apply the paint.

here's some areas where you can see the paint right after it was applied

the areas where there was a lot of tiny little chips, the paint was applied with a soft cloth and spread out over the damaged areas:

After the paint is applied, it needs time to cure. Being that it was 3 million degrees and the humidity was like 200%, the process went faster then expected on most areas. Once the paint is done, then the magic happens.

The trick to this stuff is the paint obviously clings to the tiny rock chips. It is able to fill in the smallest ones with ease. It was hard seeing black paint get smeared all over the front bumper and fenders, but i dealt with it.

The seal act stuff is then applied, which removes the paint only from the surfaces that are clear coated. which means, the areas with the chips, remain filled in with the paint.

please excuse the dirty wheels and tires. they were not part of the process today. plus, i had new tires on order.

Great results. Nice work.

Isn't it a strange feeling to be smearing paint all over your truck?!?! haha, I had to fight it at first until I saw that it really does work great. I did it on a black car as well. I really like this stuff.

Excellent work! Looks like brand new again.

Only problem here is, you're making me miss my TBSS again :o

Crap...I think you just made me want to order this..I have one rock chip in the center of the hood of my mustang and it is driving me NUTS..I am going to have to give this a go

Very impressive results. Does anyone here offer this as a service?

Love your ride too. Very well done.

I did not believe it until i tried it. This stuff is magic. Smearing it on the paint did worry me, lol. But once i saw the end result, i was impressed to say the least.

I would order it, just to fix one chip, because you never know when you will get another paint chip. especially if you do a lot of driving.

i still have the bottle and the supplies to do any touch ups if i need to.

I have this stuff as well as Langka. It blows Langka away IMO. I will never be without a kit for my dd again.

I have a kit for my daily drive but waiting for warmer weather to do the application. Your writeup has me chomping at the bit. :buffing:

cool , looks like it does the job , what`s the max size of the chips that can be fix?

Your results came out beautiful. I have used Dr. Colorchip and was also happy with the results.

For those of you who have light colored cars, be for warned. It works much better on dark colored cars. It is harder to match the paint with lighter colors, and thus, is a bit more noticeable.

With that said, it still works better then anything else that I have tried.

Nice results. I wish I could get my chips to fill in like that with the Dr. Colorchip. I have been having a hard time getting the chips that are down to the metal to fill in completely. It may not be the Dr's fault though since the chips seem to be on rounded edges, not a flat surface.

I also tried to fill in some scratches and had ok results, but the scratches are still noticeable. To be fair, as it says on their website, it is not intended for all scratches, and mine are long and shallow so the paint doesn't seem to have much to "stick" to, even after allowing it to cure up to 2 hours as per the directions.

Don't get me wrong, it has worked very well in some spots, even the chips it hasn't completely filled are not noticeable unless you are right up on them. The website is very forthright it what the paint can and can't do, which is refreshing honesty from a manufacturer. I did find the paint an excellent color match (MUCH better than the factory touch up paint!).

Once it gets warm again in the spring, I will be tackling the car again. It may not fix all of the scratches, etc., but it does an excellent job for what they claim. Still happy with the purchase and definitely worth getting, just read the website carefully to see if your paint defects can be fixed by the Dr.

I recently purchased a kit for our Prius which has tons of really noticeable chips all over the front hood and bumper. However, I decided to wait until after winter to try it out.

This gives me a lot of hope though that it will work. Thanks for sharing. :props:

Thanks for sharing great write up and great results. And it is true that it works better on darker color cars then lighter.I know someone in my area that does this full time and also sells franchise .

Excellent work and writeup! Thats incredible! I purchased a kit a month or so ago for my Sky. I gotta order another kit for on of the SL's. Haven't used it yet but on my Sky has a couple chips. The worst are right on the edge of the door panel... Literally on the edge. Looking forward to it.

Neil, try using a pointy (not flat edge) toothpick to get the paint deep in the scratch.
