Re: Dr Colorchip, Jesus H Christ!
Hello Primo,
Not at all being rude, so please don't let such enter your mind, just some questions though for all of you?
What color, or should I say what shade would Olympic White "turn to" over a period of 14-15 years? My paint is in no way grey, brown, off white, yellowed, nada.
Maybe I'm sounding like I'm tooting my horn, but here's a few facts.
Firstly, I'll explain I'm a person with crystal clear memory.
This Tahoe it has 39,400 original miles, I'm the original owner, I've cared for this vehicle better than the 1967 Corvette, and 1968 SS 396 Camaro I had owned prior to this Truck.
The first wax that ever went on this truck the week I took possession....Collinite 476 Paste. Only three other sealant products have ever gotten on the paint in its life, Zaino Z2, Meggy's #20, and Collinite 845.
The paint has been maintained with 3M Perfect-it Hand Glaze, and 3M Imperial Glaze during its life.
The first 6 years, garage kept, and I'm the kind of guy, who's friends used to tell me that I'd wax the truck in a Thunderstorm. I've been very fanatical with this vehicle, and I would say the paint is in better condition than the average 2012 vehicle I see going down the street.
But, I couldn't prevent the couple small chips I have on the edge of the hood, nor the slight amount of road rash occuring at the underside of truck behind the front, and rear tires, as I hate the look of mud flaps.
The LT Tires have a tendency to pick up every nasty piece of gravel, and of course where do those gravel rocks go?
I'm already regretting airing my dirty laundry here, and I'm sure if I have a bit of patience, the Colorchip folks will work things out to my satisfaction.
Just felt it was a bit of a let down merry christmas disappointment to see how poorly matched this paint they sent looks. It's so far off it isn't funny.
Yes, the vehicle is old, but it shouldn't be like I'm asking them to match paint on a 1930 Duesenberg. Mark
yikes...
have you thought about going to the dealer for the paint? I cant imagine they would get it wrong....use the rest of the dr. colourchip system with the dealer supplied touch up paint that should be (mind you there is some ageing on your vehicle's paint the same paint colour.
