Has anyone tried this product. My car is black. I have about 5 pretty small chips in the hood. They're white so I'm assuming they're through clear and paint. I watched larry from ammo nyc repair chips on his black Porsche. The guy is a pro and very anal. I don't think I could come close to his results. I don't want a body shop screwing up my new car either

I'm interested too. My mom's brand new CRV got chip on it and a deep scratch.

Go for it! (old Stallone quote!)

Factory touch up paint can be a better paint IMO, but, then there's the blobs you have to deal with, and about the only way I've found to deal with such is with wet sanding.

And that's where you can encounter a recipe for disaster, sanding through the clear coat, and then you will be "in a world of Shyt"! (Like Pvt Pyle)

No chance of that happening with the Dr C Chip. Screw up, just continue on with the Sealact Solution, and remove your screw-up, and start all over again till you get it right.

A little learning curve with the product, but if I can succeed, just about anyone can.

I consider myself a very good detailer, but a horrid touch up guy.

On my beloved 17 year old chevy Tahoe, I had about 1/2 dozen noticeable chips (in my eyes since I owned it since new) on the higher body panels, very very minor mind you, smaller than a BB, but I knew they were there.

Now, after the Dr C Chip touch up, I don't even lie awake at nights anymore thinking about them, and would be hard pressed with a magnifying glass to find them again.

Great product.

Do all this sort of touch up first, then wait 2-3 weeks to fully harden before you think about full paint correction, and then sealing-waxing-coating.

A good product, and company, highly recommended!

^. Completely agree! My older Mazda 6 was a hwy chip magnet.

Doctor Color Chip was my savior. It just takes some practice, but a good product as a good price.

Now one would think black is the easiest color in the world to re-paint, or touch up.

Baloney, there must be 3000 or more different shades-hues of black, just like there is white.

Any issues with a mismatch, they will work with you. That's why I said they are a good company.

I found a before and after pic from my Mazda. This is after two applications (only 1 kit) and a compound, polish, wax.

Up close you could tell, but @ 5ft away, not a chance.

Just take you time and practice on one chip. Get that perfect, then apply your knowledge :-)

unfortunately I wasn't so lucky
I bought this product to use on my daily driver CTS V Coupe and it just didn't do what it claimed to do
very expensive for such a total failure IMHO
would have been better off with the dealer touch up paint

Did the paint not match?

I use Dr. Color Chip frequently. It works great for chips and small scratches and then I polish and seal over the top with a synthetic coating.

One tip - I have the customer order the kits so I do not get accused of messing up the color or order though.

the paint matched fine (silver) but it was 'smeary and wouldn't fill the scratch at all after several attempts
it became more of a mess than anything
i used my DA buffer after to try and reduce the depth of the scratch, and tried again
finally gave up

i'm glad it works for you
I wish it had done so for me :(

Yeah, I can relate. I think in some ways its better than traditional touch up paint, but in other ways not so much. I dont think any "touch up" is going to make a chip or scratch dissapear.

I have a scratch that I have gone over at least 6 times and still have yet to fill. And the paint dries not glossy. But, its far less visible now than when it was just a scratch. If there is a learning curve, I have not gotten around that curve myself.

I did not have good results from this kit. when I went to remove the excess, or "blobbing", the Sealact Solution would remove the metallic from the touch-up paint and it looked like crap. I do not recommend.

I wonder if a flat paint would work better with it?

Anyway, good luck... I hope you have better results than me.

Yeah, now that you mention it, thats kinda what happens.

I actually tried some non Dr Color chip clear on one repair just to see what happens and the Sealact actually did remove the excess even though it was not their paint. Didnt make the repair look any better though.
