I usually use those round sponge like blue applicators to apply my tire dressing (opti bond 1:1) but I tried a thick mf applicator pad and I think I like it better the others are like big sponges. Any thoughts?

I like the the Carrand 92143 applicator with the blue plastic backing.

Hmm mine never held up but they weren't carrand

For "hands-stay-clean"...
You oughta try some:

•"Brush-style" applicators
•Tire Dress Express (Professional version)

I like the Tuf Shine applicators. I bought some extra but the first one I bought that's about 2 years old is still going. 👍🏽

I've been using these for months now I will never use anything else again. Quick easy and even coverage.

Great choices but all of these continually soak up more product (except the brush) like a sponge and there's product waste=$$$ thats why I mentioned a mf applicator.

Your mf applicator would have a sponge inside of it no? If it does excess produt would seep in and would get trap there rotting the sponge. Brush applicator is the way to go IMO.

You could wash the mf applicator.

Personally, I think they all work pretty well, but the Carrand brush does seem to keep my hands "cleaner."

I like the one I mentioned because it lasts a long time and I have really low profile tires on my GC and it allows me to be precise with application and not get tire stuff on my wheels. The hard plastic backing gives you excellent control. It's wide enough to do large tires too. I just press it onto a wad of paper towels when done to get any excess out and occasionally wash it with and apc.

Just use a grout sponge, available at HDepot or other hardware stores. A 3-pack is under 5 bucks and they last forever. Each sponge can be cut into 3 equal pieces, and if you want to cut a curve in it to better match your tire profile, use a serrated bread knife, or a scroll saw if you have one.

I've also used a roller as someone pointed out, but I like the grout sponge better.

I like the Walmart Hand towels for $.47 each. I can get 2 to 4 tire dressing applications at each detail and then I just chuck them when they are black and dirty. I 2-fold the rags and get quite a bit of use that way. Each clean side is used per each tire.

I used to use the tire applicators, however, this is cleaner and you can apply more product on easier as the rag can get into the nooks and crannies.

I was buying a foam applicator or a tire applicator at around $2 - $4 a pop and that can add up.

Additionally, if I am just working on the dash with their dressing the rags are more precise. You can go longer with a dedicated Dashboard Rag towel as it does not get as dirty as the tire rags. IMO The rags can have many more uses than a foam or MF applicator.
