With all the talk about driverless cars its made me wonder...will that hurt detailing?

Probably not:
Won't they, at least, still get dirty? Unless they are
bound up in some kind of cocoon, I suppose.

In the purist sense of the question, Yes - I think it will hurt detailing as anyone who doesn't care enough about their car to actually want to drive it will certainly not be concerned enough to have it detailed. There are certainly exceptions to that but they are just that, the exceptions.

That said, it'll be decades before it is much of a concern as there are millions upon millions of "human" driven cars out there, not to mention infrastructure issues that will need to be addressed.
 
Most kids today could less about cars or even keeping them clean, that's why I am getting into detailing smart phones that the future for youngsters.
