Driving behind someone, what frustrates you?

This thread's purpose is to share your frustrations on the driver in front of you, the things they do.

For me, the most frustrating thing is when a driver throws his cigarette out of the window and it goes bouncing on the road and straight into my car. This is especially when i just spent 4 hours on my car. I once found a cigarette butt in the botom plastic cover that some vehicles have underneath the engine bay.

When they have to clean the windshield and the washer fluid sprays all over my car instead
 
^^ That's very true as well, and some feel like they need to hold the sprayer down for 5 minutes :)
 
The people who drive 3 MPH under the limit on a road you cant pass on.
 
Speed is my main issue as well. Here in Montréal it's getting standard for people to drive at half the speed limit. It annoys the hell out of me.

I think I'm as OCD on the road as I am in my driveway. I'm a very calculated driver, so the smallest things that other drivers do to affect my intentions tend to get under my skin. Then I remember that we are all human and everybody doesn't necessarily look multiple steps ahead like I do. If I had to pick one thing though... One driving maneuver that irritates me beyond all others... It's when you're on a two lane road, not able to pass a car doing 5 to 10 mph under the posted speed limit and they are A-O-K postponing your arrival wherever it may be. These drivers tend to carry that same pace until an opening appears, or even better, a passing lane. Then these friggin jerk-offs wanna pick up the pace and do 15 over, all the while prohibiting me from passing and not realizing that my head is ready to bust like a grape from my blood pressure rising. It happens all. the. time. on the roads here in KY and I dealt with it almost every single day in the 283,000 miles I drove in just under 3 years with the scooter store. People...
 
I can't stand the fancy car drivers that purchase them without turn signals! $60,000 for a car, and no turn signals! Wtf

Around me cars don't have turn signals anymore and the no turn on red sign means turn in front of me when I'm halfway thru the intersection
 
people out on a Sunday drive when its Tuesday. at least go the speed limit. I like to poke around and enjoy my drive, but if im doing under the speed limit and I notice someone behind me I will speed up to the speed limit, and allot of time when we get to a place where they can pass me I will slow down and scoot over on the shoulder enough to give them the idea to come on around me. I even like to give them a friendly wave when they come around me, sometimes all someone needs to brighten their day is someone being friendly to them.
 
Living in an area of Florida (Stuart) where there are many retirees so if some one is driving slow I chalk it up to someone on the phone or an older person.If it`s an older person they get a pass as that could be us one day(GOD WILLING).If it`s someone talking on the phone(depending on the state you live in) it`s disappointing as the concentration should be on the road which becomes more difficult as we age.

This is for driving behind a gravel truck. When all the gravels and rocks are flying toward your car. Sometime they could be like .25 mile away and you hear it hitting your car and I'm all like trying to dogde it.
 
I've been driving for a living for a while so I could go on and on but here in Chicagoland its the "me first" attitude! I agree with the OP about cig butts, smokers are the piggest, urrr, biggest pigs out there, I see this all day, everyday, there's NO denying it so don't even try to smokers! Another problem is the new cars with DRL's, some must light up the dash and at night they "think" they've got their lights on but they don't and when you flash em' they've got no clue, really urks the hell out of me. I agree 100% about turn signals but here in "me first" land you don't think you need to use the signals....trust me, you do!

  1. People who slam on the brakes, then drive extremely slowly over road-level train tracks
  2. Early-and-long brakers, the kind that brake 1/2 mile from the red light and then coast at 5mph until they get to it
  3. People who don't accelerate from the on-ramp to the highway. Are you gonna hit the highway going 35???? Stellar, then me and all the cars behind us will get rear-ended by those going 75 or we'll just stop & sit at the bottom of the ramp cuz we were too slow to merge into traffic.
 
1. When there is a hill and everyone's speed suddenly drops 10-15MPH.
2. When someone doesn't turn right on red.
3. When the person in the passing lane is driving directly next to the car in the lane to its right.
4. When people move into your lane when there are dual turn lanes. I can't even begin to count the number of time I almost got hit.
5. When people don't signal.
6. When you slow down to let someone in and then they don't move over until you speed back up assuming they don't want to get in front of you anymore.
7. When people drive excessively slow in bad weather making it even more dangerous.
8. When people hit their brakes approaching a green light.
9. When people slow down approaching a yellow light and then go through it anyway making me miss the light.
10. When people randomly hit their brakes just to do it.
11. When people text or read the newspaper or shave or apply make up or eat something that requires two hands while driving.
12. When people litter, including cigarettes.
13. When people have their turn signal on when they have no intention of turning or changing lanes.
14. When people in the non-passing lane speed up to your speed as you go to pass them.

I think that mostly covers it.
 
The worst for me is when I'm cruising on the interstate (speeding 80-85mph) and those doing the speed limit or under do not MOVE OVER. I refuse to pass on the right and slower traffic is supposed to move over. From a fair distance if I know I am coming up quick, and yes out of laziness I do not want to break cruise control, I flash my headlights twice as a gesture to move over and some people ignore it. Then I further get irritated that once I can smell the oil their engine happens to be burning off, they speed up like its a game. I don't want to play, I want to get to my destination at my speed. Some want to control my speed by slowing down even more. Why worry about me speeding, leave that job to the troopers, I find most instigate road rage and my primitive instincts go haywire!
 
When I am in Lane 1 and another driver is in Lane 2, driver in Lane 2 changes into my lane when there isn't another car in front of them for a good 1/4 mile and drives slow in my lane. No reason for them to switch lanes.

Another is when there is a good 3-car distance in from car in front of them and they just keep stepping on their brakes.
 
When I'm doing 70-75 in the left lane on the lovely lie or grand central parkway and I'm moving along nicely and some person decides they want to cut me off and go about 50-55 mph and I have to come to a screeching halt. Why??????? Pick up your speed or don't get over. Another favorite is when you're behind someone who does 45 and refuses to move over for you. Don't get on the highway f you're scared to press your gas pedal.
 
When your stopped behind a car and they start reversing not turning around to see if there is a car or person behind them.

And your car doesn't have a horn to signal them to stop, so you have to put it in reverse and drive in reverse (on the fly) so they don't hit your car. Lol
