A client just called me up and told me he parked his car near a construction site (A big no-no) and when he came back the next day he saw a few drips of cement on the hood of his car.
Now the drops have hardened already, and since I have never seen a case like this I knew I had to ask about this situation here before doing any more damage to the hood...

So, any ideas on how to approach this?

I've run across this before. I have a product somewhere that you spray onto the concrete and it turns it into sand. I will dig around in a bit and find out the name

Chemical Guys used to make a product called "Ex-Con," which was specifically a concrete remover. That product is since gone from their web store.

Otherwise, I believe Home Depot sells a concrete remover, although I do not know how it responds to paint. As it is basically acid, if not removed promptly it might eat through the paint as well.

This has been discussed many time here - try the search function.

As to products to try, I would begin with straight white vinegar. Soak the cement spot using a gauze pad. Do not wipe! Water rinse only.

GEWB

Since it's new I'd try a soap solution saturated cloth and let it just sit on top of the spot to see if it softens. Don't try scrubbing, instead use a high presser hose or better yet a power-washer.

I've seen diesel fuel work for cement. I didn't do it, but I saw a guy taking it off with diesel. It left marring...but it can be polished.

The client needs to contact the construction company if he hasn't already. They are liable for the damage. A friend had her car covered in cement from an overpass pour gone wrong and they repainted her car.

By the way, my friend realized what had happened and immediately went to a car wash to rinse it off, but even that was too late. The acidity of the cement had already etched the paint beyond repair.

I know I've seen threads where they used vinegar. It took a decent amount of time with soaking it, but definitely work for them.

So +1 to what Gary said above.

Look, its "Tha Ferminator" Im the MAN

Hey, that thread over at Pia where you and Bob went nuts was classic. While I tended to mostly agree with Robert, I must say, when you told him "May The Tightness Be With You" and used the "Beam Me Up" smileyman I nearly fell out of my chair. Funny stuff right there man

OP....I looked around for a bit yesterday trying to find this stuff I was telling you about earlier. I could not put my finger on it (and came to the realization that a Goodwill run is due) I do remember it was bought at a Ace hardware store. Probally not the best thing for a painted surface, but it did the trick at the time I needed it to

My suggestion is to try and let it dwell with APC and see what happens. More then likely nothing will happen. If that fails either try this stuff David just mentioned or make a run to Lowes. Either way, you might try appling this stuff to another painted panel to see what the reaction is before applying it to your clients.

Best of Luck,

It hasn't been the same since you left!! I can try to get you back on if you promise to be a good boy? Oh, and the side bar ad can be hidden if you click on the little arrow button in the header. Don't know about DB though. Been way too busy to check. :buffing::autowash:
