Dry Wash or Polishing Quiz....

I think it's pretty safe to say that his polishing jobs are superb with or without a flash/sun/light.

I trust him :xyxthumbs:

I believe Misha is refering to the drywash pictures. There are som of us that just aren't convinced that you can "dry wash" vehicles that dirty without instilling some marring.

Gotcha :xyxthumbs:

I wouldn't mind seeing some pics either but I've used them before and they really do work.

Ding ding ding got it

Sorry guys for making it tough!! Let me give you a closer shot of the polished suv -

this is me smoking ...talking on the phone ..... and snapping a picture. Sorry guys - before coming to this forum I didn't know how to take pictures of my jobs and could've have cared less of taking pics of my jobs - but this is why I have bringing the camera

I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't think you understand what were saying about a light source illuminating the paint. Even in these two shots there is still no light source. I am only sharing this with you in hopes of helping you to better understand what we are saying about a light source on the paint.

Although these are very nice reflection pictures, there is absolutely no way to tell if there is any marring in the paint. It just looks shinny and reflective.

But in these pictures; the sun in this case, (but can be another light source such as halogens, LED, brinkman) shows everything. If there is any marring or swirls present the light source is going to show it.

Sorry for those picking apart a fun quiz if my photography isn't good enough here...... but I will work on it :dblthumb2:

This is a metallic blue - not done, need to go finish it up - just stopped for lunch. Later guys!

I know the product you're using and now I'm really interested, especially after seeing those results. Would you be able to show us a before and after picture of a vehicle you've dry washed to show it doesn't put in any swirls.

I might have to get a bottle and try it.

People need to relax, it was just a fun way to share some pics. If most of if not all of these cars are daily drivers then obviously it wouldn't matter if there are swirls as long as they are shinny. Hasn't mike said it plenty of times to cater to your audience. Even when he did that kiss detail he said he didn't know if swirls were put into the paint as the owner just wanted a shinny car which is what he got.

I agree 100%. It was just for fun folks. If you want to know if a "drywash" product marrs the paint then buy some and use it. It's not a correction product it's a waterless cleaner/all in one for heaven's sake. I've made very good money over the years with these type of products. "Cater to your audience" makes all the sense in the world but one must think about it to understand it.

I did my Blizzard White Pearl RAV today with a drywash, I've used them since 2004, they work. You have missed the entire point of this type of product when you demand sun shots. The products are for the customer that wants a clean shiny car and doesn't want to jack with it themselves or wants quick results. They wouldn't know marring from Mars and couldn't care less. Lighten up.

What got me to try these type products in the first place was all the "experts" on various detailing boards telling me they couldn't work. Had any one ever used the product? No, but they couldn't work, blah, blah, blah. Armchair quarterbacks every one. I still use them to this day. Being a maverick is sometimes required if you want to learn and get ahead.

Ok before I start .... this is a correction not a dry wash guys - Drywash will not mar the paint if you do it properly though! California Duster will not mar the paint unless you miss use it - a rotary will not burn through the clear unless you miss use it or aren't careful - a clay bar will not jack up the paint unless you don't use lube - etc. etc. etc. 80 % of my business is DryWash - right now I do anywhere from 40 to 80 cars a month with the drywash method..... do you really think I would be in business and growing rapidly if I jacked up vehicles paints on a daily basis lol?!?!!?!? I would be paying tens of thousands a month in getting panels repainted if this was the case. Please don't knock something unless you have tried it! And if you did use it and marred your paint, sorry to say but you must not have used any common sense when using the method..... or I am just the worlds luckiest person lol!

Again - this was a correction , not a dry wash........

Well said, and that is really a beautiful blue on that Chevy. Nice work.

Nice work Anthony! But you don't have any sun shots so I don't think you can tell if you really did a good job. lol jk.

Like you said your not a photographer and it took me awhile to actually get some good photos and I still suck at it! One suggestion is if the sun goes behind a cloud or you can't get any sun pics. Turn the flash on. It will at least give you something. Just a friendly suggestion, don't get upset! lol

Here are some sun shots..... I took ALOT of "sun shots" from what I thought was a great angle - then the sun wasn't in any of them lol! But here are a few I was able to capture............

Did I prove myself LOL!?!!?!? I have been polishing for a very long time my friend..... but I have been taking pictures for a week lol.......... I never knew to take pics of light after polishing until coming to AG..... I really could've cared less for taking pics - Always just did my job and went home. But now that I have a website and after being on AG and seeing that appearantly people take 100 pics for every job they do.... I figured I'll bring my camera more often. Hopefully my eye for pic taking will improve!

I think everyone needs to simmer down a bit.

I know what its like being in B&B's shoes.

Doing multiple cars a day, tired, hungry, keeping up on the crew, organizing supplies, making sure the detail is done right so he can take pics.

I think we are being a little too critical here and should be grateful that he can take the time to post up a decent amount of pics.

Besides, the best pic is always the direct before and after.

Sorry but the "we need sun pics" and the " lets see the rear fender on this angle" is getting annoying.

Plus the sun cannot stay in one spot the entire day.

Whats a drywash? Seriously... What is it?

This is all very true - thanx for pointing it out man. Pics have always been one of those things where I get home after an awesome transformation and I lay down then say, "Awe man, should've brought the camera" - I'll bring the camera next time!" Then the same routine happens day after day lol. I have done ALOT of aircraft over the past 13 years and I have a total of 5 pics from aircraft!!! Out of at least 500 aircraft done! Doesn't mean that I suck at detailing aircraft or cars or buses or RV's - just means I am either too busy to care about taking pics or it just slips my mind. Plus - once a person gets out of the 1 to 2 cars a week mode and into the 30 vehicles a week mode, taking pics won't matter anymore. My goal is to remember to bring my camera daily... and I started this thread to share..... these weren't all the jobs I did this week either, just the ones that I remembered to snap. Thanx again for pointing this out Grizzly!
