dumb stuff thats happened during detailing

This is not so much a detailing story, but a horror story for a cars finish none the less.

My friend used to work at a car wash (the kind you drive through with the spinning brushes and all the good stuff for your paint). He was telling me about another kid I know that sent a work truck through (pool supply store) that had a nice thick layer of pool sand in the bed of the truck... I guess for the next few days, the cars that came out the other end where all faded and dull. It more or less sandblasted the fronts of the cars that came through after the truck...

I'm glad I wash my own cars!

My mom was so impressed with the durability of Klasse, she decided to extend it to various parts of the house after I sealed the counters. You could seriously get a short running start and glide entirely acroos the house through the living room and pool table / dining room the the front door. :D

That is funny! I think the thing I hate most is when someone taps into your detailing supplies in the garage and takes them inside for house use. I can never seem to keep glass cleaner around, its always missing and then I find it under the sink. Same thing with leather cleaner....You feel like saying... Get Your Own! :D

My solution to that was huge locking metal storage cabinets. I have three of them. Seven feet high, three feet wide, and 18 inches deep. All with keyed alike locks. Nothing is ever missing and nothing is ever on the wrong shelf.

Well, after spending 8 long hard hours correcting the paint on a black Audi, I followed up the next day to apply some Fuzion. Car looked amazing, then the owner comes out with a can of black spray paint. I asked "what are you doing?" He replies "This is what I doo all the time.." and he proceeds to spray paint the inner guards instead of cleaning them properly..... arrggghhh

I read a story in a Chevy Truck forum that a wife washed her husbands brand new Chevy Silverado (the new, new body style). He wrote it was so grimy that she used a scotch bright on it. Needless to say, it was not in good shape after that. I did not read what happened to it, but if the scouring was not too deep, it could be corrected with a slightly thinner clear coat after that!

I read in a forum about a guy who sealed his countertops with a sealant (don't remember which one) and now they cat feels like it is in an ice skating rink. He said the cat will jump from the kitchen table to a counter top and just slide right off the other end of the counter.:D

Another funny story I heard was someone using a PC and he got close to the antenna and it swirled around and whipped him right in the face.

Ohhh, this one brings back bad memories. I did a complete detail on a BMW 5 series. He had been in an accident and just got the car back from having the front bumper, fender, and hood work done. I remember because I just put 3M glaze on those areas. I did the engine and covered the belts, and alternator with towels. Finished engine, started engine, OH NO the towels. I forgot to remove them. I picked them out from around the fan area, and everything looked OK.
A week later I get a call that he threw a fan blade through the top of the hood. His insurance tied it to the accident and maybe so but I'll never know. Haven't covered an engine since.
