Durable LSP for truck

I used the Wolfgang duo & WGDGPS on my 2004 Silverado. Like a red burgundy. It looks good with the sealant, I'm going to put another coat of WGDGPS on it, then I want to put something else on.

I won't be giving it the extra attention our cars get, but it only gets driven now and then.

I was thinking of like Collonite 845 or Liquid Souveran, it is said the durability is about 3-4 months on these. LS is on BOGO now. I would use a spray like after every other wash. What about OCW or Liquid Souveran spray?

Looking for some extra durability, but with shine too!

What do you all think?

Collinite 845 is a great choice to top a sealant with. Cheap, durable, and good looks. Oh and it is only $15. If you want to spend a little extra you can look into some paste carnauba waxes such as Blackfire Midnight Sun.

Another option is a WOWA (wipe on walk away) sealant. Optimum Opti Seal, Ultima Paint Guard Plus, and Blackfire Crystal Seal are three WOWA sealants that are quick and easy to use.
 
:iagree: with rider. 845 and either FK425 or more recently XMT360 spray wax as an after wax booster is all I use these days.
 
I really am not crazy about topping with a carnauba on daily drivers....much more a fan of using a sealant as the LSP.

WG is hard to beat. Looks good, is durable and slick. If you want to add protection, you can always just top with another coat of WGDGPS.
 
Well you can always use a 2-step approach; putting a long-lasting sealant layer under, and then topping with a spray wax or something to increase durability (the spray wax would be what you apply after every other wash).

For sealants, as rider mentioned, WOWA are definitely tops in terms of ease of use and good durability, like ultima paint guard plus, opti-seal, blackfire crystal seal, etc. You literally just spray it, spread it, and leave it alone for a couple of hours. All in all, I personally feel that they would perform and last around the same as each other, but I'm not too sure on looks between them since i've only used UPGP.

For spray wax, you can literally use anything like OCW or XMT 360, etc. Since this is only a "sacrificial layer" so to speak since you're reapplying after every other wash, durability shouldn't be too much of a factor.
Again, this also has very easy application; just spray on, wipe off. But as mentioned, this won't have the same level of protection or durability if used bare without a sealant than compared to a bare sealant.

There is one option that people here seem to like though (including myself, but I never use it as a stand-alone; I always have a sealant layer under everything regardless of what I want to put on top); Chemical Guys Hybrid V7; it's a QD/sealant hybrid. So it's super easy to apply like a spray wax, it's a QD so it can be used as a drying aid to kind of save you a step after washing, and it's a sealant, though I feel it is on par with a spray wax in terms of durability (but correct me if I'm wrong; I use it only as a protective layer above my UPGP). Again, if you're applying once every other wash, that is not too much of a problem.

You really can't go wrong with most things on AG; blackfire, wolfgang, and pinnacle series all have fool-proof products that are essentially guaranteed to work well; more pricey than some products from CG or DP or even pinnacle XMT, but they all have the looks and the performance to back it up.

Are you saying put the Opti seal or UPGP over the WGDGPS? Why 2 different sealants? I already have a sealant on.

I wanted to use some sort of booster too help prolong the sealant. You think WG is enough?

Tip: Frequent car care equals fast and easy car care...
(In this case a truck)

The last time I detailed Behemoth was the end of April, so for easy math we'll say May, it's December 22nd today and I washed, clayed and waxed Behemoth yesterday, so it's roughly been over 7 months since this truck has seen any kind of maintenance outside of normal washing.

Cleaning, claying and re-sealing the paint was fast and easy after 7 months of outside exposure to the elements, it would be even faster, and even easier if this second detailing session would have been performed a month or two earlier.

The Poli-Coat appears to be holding up well so we're sticking with it and re-applying it as our LSP.

The key point is that putting your car, or your customer's car, on a regular maintenance program makes cleaning and maintaining the exterior faster and easier than waiting so long that the finish degrades to the point where you need to use aggressive products like a compound to remove oxidation, swirls and scratches.

The application of Poli-Coat did a great job of keeping the paint protected but nothing lasts forever, so replacing the sealant that's worn off with a fresh coat of Poli-Coat will help keep this truck looking bright and shiny and make the next wash and wax just as fast and easy.

Yes and no. I know they fall into different categories, but for me I use them in very similar fashions.

I like using a qd while wiping down after a wash. Was a huge Crystal mist fan, then tried Megs UQD and was hooked on that for a while. Then after all the praise it received here on the forums, tried FK425 and fell in love. I really thought it added a nice warm glow and added depth to all colors I applied it on. The only drawback I saw to it was that it could get streaky under certain conditions (high humidity, etc.).

I tried XMT 360 spray wax after a bogo as a "what can I loose" proposition and was thoroughy impressed by it. It gave me the same ease of application as previously tried qd's, the same look that I saw with FK425 (to my untrained eyes) and additional protection. I have also been impressed with the lack of streaking, even hours after application. I have never had to go back and re-buff a panel to correct streaks or smudges with XMT360.

Hope this clears up what I meant a bit,
