Newbie here :caflag: , Ive been a detailing enthusiast since I was a kid, recently I started detailing for my boss's side business & really have been learning alot from this site and a couple others, I have been getting alot better at paint correction & my most recent success was cleaning up an extremely neglected F150 with M105/M205, awesome stuff. Enough about me, here is my question...

As much as I love detailing vehicles, there arent enough hours in the day or enough dollars in the bank to keep MY black pickup truck as glossy black as I want it to be, I put alot of miles on in a week in different weather conditions,
I am looking for the longest lasting, most durable sealant to protect its black finish, I dont know if there is a product out there that has the best of both worlds, that gives the unforgiving black its deepest wettest look, while providing superior protection? For the past couple years I have been using popular consumer products like Meguiars NXT Tech wax 2.0, but as I get more into this hobby/business I am learning more about products like Wolfgang Deepgloss sealant 3.0 or Collinite 476s Super Doublecoat etc etc, but I dont know enough about them to know if they have disadvantages like not as good on black paint etc, could anyone guide me in the right direction of something that would suit my needs?

I would say wolfgang's deep gloss paint sealant, menzerna powerlock or Zaino Z2 Pro are all fantastic.

If you want a super sealant that lasts really long with superior protection, I would say CarPro's CQuartz. This sealant however, is a completely different animal to apply, but is a fantastic product.

My 2005 FX4 Powerstroke has had Finish Kare Hi Temp Wax (really 100% synthetic sealant) on it since October and it has held up brilliantly without any maintenance or washes (hosed off twice) in Northwest Wyoming.

Will somebody please explain how one wax is better for black and another better for my Oxford White truck when in fact both are clear coated? I think this idea of an optimum wax for a particular clear coated color is absolute nonsense and would not hold up to any double blind test.

IMO Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection gives the best combination of looks and protection for black (dark) colored vehicles. The look rivals that of some of the best carnubas on the market.

Zaino Z5 Pro has lasted the longest for me, but DP Poly-Coat's durability has also be extremely impressive and it's a lot less fickle about surface bonding issues.

Duragloss 601/105 combo x2. I have one coat of this combo on our Carbon Black Regal that was applied at the end of November, has been exposed to a few touch less washes and a few hand washes and still releases water like it did after it was applied. Great beading on horizontal surfaces and great sheeting on vertical surfaces. Follow up with Aqua Wax at least once a month for some added wet look and slickness.

To the OP,i'm a noob just doing my own vehicles for fun and have brought way to many products (thanks AG) If i had to pick one product for durability, looks and easy to use it would be 845IW.

I would recommend Menz Powerlock or Wolfgang DGPS 3.0

I didn't have very good luck this winter with WGDGPS. It sure looked nice and was easy to use, but I was disappointed with durability.
I put Griot's sealant on my wife's car and it's still going.

If you're applying Aqua Wax every month, you really can't speak to the durability of Duragloss 601/105. How does it perform without maintenance.

Typed at my house on a full-sized keyboard connected to a desktop computer, not some stupid, dinky miniature keyboard on my cellphone while I'm driving or cheating my employer by posting on an internet forum instead of working.

I'm not at the moment. I was suggesting this to the OP. What I stated in terms of durability is up to date, without a booster of any type.

lol, so you guys just made my decision very tough by throwing all these great options at me.
Would there be any problem with applying Collinite 845 over a PB Blackhole glaze? I read somewhere (maybe on this site not sure) that the chemicals in Collinite may reduce the swirl filling/hiding abilities of the PB BH, anyone know if this holds true? (I am applying the BH to this vehicle because like stated earlier its a daily driver and I just dont have the time to keep it looking 100%, though I try to keep it as close as humanly possible.

Was this little addition directed at me? Just because someone makes a response from a phone doesn't mean they are driving or at work. Sorry you don't have the ability to utilize modern day electronics.

:dunno:What does this have to do with detailing????

BFWD topped with Collinite 915 (for durability) or Souveran (for amazing looks).

I'm not saying a buy into the Dodo Juice thing where you use a different wax for every color, but you can't deny that color can and should play a role in what LSP you choose. For example I wouldn't want to use a wax like Souveran on a car with pearl since it darkens the paint and in turn would mute the flakes. Also I wouldn't want to use a color charged wax on a white car since it would darken or at least change the look of the white paint.

It performs great without AQ and even better if you were to top it with Collinite 845. Since I haven't gotten to use Opti-coat on my car yet my winter LSP is the DG combo topped with Collinite 845 and it works amazingly well. It was applied back in November and is still beading strong after putting up with several snowstorms, salt, and frequent toucheless washes.

Also maybe try to grow up a little with your last comment. Just because someone posts from their phone doesn't mean they are doing anything bad or wrong. I post a lot from my phone when I'm sitting on the couch or in the garage working on something, it's just convenient, so I'd get off that high horse of yours.
