Whats the difference between DG 101 and DG 105? Is it smart to use 101 first and then 105?

I haven't used either but it looks to me like the 101 is an AIO cleaner/sealant and the 105 is only a sealant. I would guess they would work in the same manner as the Klasse twins, cleaner first, sealant second.

I have used a lot of DG products over the past year. DG101 is an all in one. It works well by its self. You can use DG105 over DG101 with great results. Let the 101 set for a few hours before you put the 105 over it.

Okey. Shall I let 101 dry, and then wipe it of with a mf, or should I just put 101 on first, and then 105 and wipe them of together?

:iagree: . Al and Sparkie have a method of using #101; #105; and AW on white paint that is WOW.

Here's a post by Al-53 on DG101 and DG105

Bags..let 101 haze up for 30 minutes..depending on weather..if hot and humid go 45 minutes...if cool and dry go 30 ....buff it off.....wait 30 to 60 minutes before doing 105...let 101 start to link up a bit..that way you will not be pushing it around with 105...if you have time and not in a hurry...do 105 the next day...it goes on fast and easy....but do by hand...little trick...do a very lite spray of AW if you have it on the foam applicator pad and then a dime size of 105...that primes the pad some and helps 105 spread far..just need to do AW on the pad once..the 105 will continue the priming..I mean a lite spray..not soaking it...lol....just to make it slightly damp....

Use very little 105 as it goes a long ways after the pad is primed...

let 105 sit 1 hour before buffing off...better results...longer if you want

You can also try 501 then 105. #501 is a bit stronger then #101.

When doing the 101 and 105 combo....what I do sometimes is I do 101 in the morning....then late afternoon I do the 105....but if real humid I wait to next day

The Ideal way is to do 101 one day and 105 the next....101 has a more sealant property than Klasse AIO.....DG said a minumum cure time of 12 hours.......then AW after the next wash....

If you have not got the 101 yet..I would suggest trying the 501 Marine Polish then the 105...the 501 really cleans paint....and has a very durable sealant also....very slick and has a wet gloss to it....same as doing 101 and 105....

The 101 is a more heavy cleaner than the 105, but both are AIOs, personaly i prefer the 101 as a base, and then the 105 and as LSP the 111, to make a thick barrier for the Norwegian winter/salt

as A1monky also states: 101 + Pinnacle LS....ROCKS. that is probably one of the blingest combos ive seen on a solid colour, and is my preferd summer shine. Just bost it once in awhile with the Duragloss AquaWax, Duragloss fast clean and shine or crystal Mist

BUT, you get a more lasting protection aplying the 105 over the 101, and ive also had great result with the 111 over the 105.

The DG 105 can sitt on the car til the next day or you can buff right after it has dryed. if you apply another coat of the 105, do it with a "light" hand (said above also)

Remember that the DG 105 needs 24 h to cure before aplying anything over it (wax, water, polish etc)

There is some different ways to apply many of the DG products due to AL and sparkies eager to do/try something new all the time, its hard to keep up with them. lol

In the last 4 weeks ive used 101 on 3 cars , a red car , a white car , and a teal van. I like it . Its easy to wipe on, wipe off, cleanes great , and leaves a great shine and is very slick.Have you guys notice that dirt doesent want to stick. Its been raining here for 4 days and the van doesent look to dirty. It sits outside 24/7.. The van was done 4 weeks ago and it still beads . I havent put on any 105 or AW , and it still looks great.

If you go the 501 then 105 route is there ever any need for the 601 (meaning is the 105 going to bond better to the 601 than the 501/101 and last longer)? Will 501 under 105 produce a different look than 601 under 105? Would you equate 501 with Prime Strong? What product in a different line would you equate with 601? Thanks.

eh?

Last week I spent a hour on the phone with DG..My buddy wants to get his trucks ready for winter for plow season..so I called on the fleet products..we got on the subject of the Marine line for my winter use....

I was told I could use the Marine 501 alone or If I wanted I could do the 501..wait 24 hours do the 601 and 105 on top of the 501..the 501 has salt inhibitors for Marine use...

The 501 does not have the correction abilities of Prime strong....but does have the cleaning abilities ....its a very strong cleaner and very good sealant properties according to DG since its made for being in water and water abrasion..Since 105 is a synthetic polymer and resin it has a better look...105 has depth were 501 has gloss and wetness and slickness ,...I am very Impressed with 501 on the truck now....the use of AW adds a better look to it also....

I asked about mixing AW and the Marine detailer....he said I come up with crazy mixes..but he liked the AW and FC&S mix I told I use and he tried it and liked it..but for 921 and 521 mix...he said 3-4 oz for the 22oz bottles would be tops..you will take away from the cleaning if you use any more....

the 601 can be used with any Polymer sealant also....the only other product like 601 was the old Z1 from zaino but has been discontinued I think ...

Thanks for the reply. I'll add some 501 to my next order. If 105 has the depth and 501 the gloss and wetness, what does 601 bring to the table looks wise?

601 brings nothing..its actually a catalyst to help the sealants bond and also creates a harder shell on the sealants...its a bonding agent/hardener..it is suppose to add durability to the sealants....

601 Polish Bonding Agent
Is similar to an epoxy (A&B) and bonds chemically when it comes into contact with durable polishes. Duragloss PBA will double the durability and protection of polishes when applied prior to polishing.

Now when they say polishing they mean using the 101..111 105 or 501...as they call the sealants ..polishes....

Ok, I will try #101 -> #105 -> (#111) -> #951 (AW) :)

Do I rinse of the car between each operation?

Actually the 111 will take away from the look of 105..111 is sorta sterile in looks..it looks like Klasse SG in a way...very glossy but a lack of deepness...and 105 will last longer than the 111....it has a wetter deeper look then 111...

Al - Thanks again for the clarification. I guess I can think of 105 and 501 as a sort of Zaino Z-5 / Z-2 PRO where they both add something different to the look of the car.
