Had to strip my 2006 Mazda MX5 (Miata) paint down due to an unfortunate experiment gone wrong. I tried to apply Collinite 915 over Pinnacle Souveran and it streaked and clouded like a mother. Since this vehicle is a daily driver and exposed to the elements 24/7 I decided to try a sealant as an LSP.

Process: Washed paint, wheel wells and wheels with P21S Total Auto Wash. Dried with Cobra waffle weave towels.

Dressed wheel wells with ##'s Bare Bones.

No claying or machine buffing, did both a couple months ago with Meguiars 205 on white and then red Kompressor pads with Flex 3401.

Hand polished with old Zaino cotton applicator using Duragloss 501 Marine & RV Polish.

Sealed with Duragloss 111 Wet Look Clear Coat Polish applied with microfiber applicator.

Here is a picture of the paint from when I purchased to car used in November, 2008.

Here is as close to a sunshot as I can get. The paint is not perfect with several dents and scratches, but it still looks pretty good.

Just to show what a product that can be picked up over the counter ( or from AG) looks like with adequate prep.

Enjoy,

Wow, that car looked trashed. Great turnaround, its nice because you can point out the paint condition when you are buying it knowing you can correct it later.

Duragloss 111 is a great product, the car looks really good

Thanks, turned out a little better than I expected with a sealant on black. :)
