I don't want to give the wrong impression in case things don't work for you, but I personally achieved 9 months protection out of 1 application of DG 601/105 before failing on the front bumper and top of trunk lid of all places. Our car is garaged at night but sits outside all day while my wife is at work, faced road salt during the winter and touchless car washes on average every 2 weeks, along with hand washing on the weekends. I would imagine you could see 9-12 months depending on storage and care but your results may vary from mine. If I was doing an application of DG 501 I would mix it with DG 601 Polish Bonding Agent to flash cure it. My process was always to wait 2 hours between 501 and 105 but after consulting with Richy I started following after removal and noticed no degradation in performance.
You got it. :xyxthumbs: I always do a final wipe with DG Aqua Wax after using Duragloss products, even door jambs.
If I wanted to wimp out and use the 101 instead of the 501 could I still mix the 601 with it at 1:4.
i need to message him about the solvent he was talking about. ive been too lazy to do so though. currently i let them soak in some dawn dish soap water and then just rinse them out real good. they end up being a light gray color once they dry.
Wow 9 months of 1 app. I think I am going to try 601/501 and then 601/105 and final wipe with AW. Thanx
I don't want to overwork and stripe like you said happened with the Honda you were working on. And I don't really have much concept of how aggressive it is on clearcoat. But I guess if I do it like you said a page back I should be OK?
I honestly believe you will be just fine, I just pushed it to the limits with too much pressure for too many passes. I am on my 3rd bottle of DG 501 in about a year and that was the only time I have ever had that happen. I haven't used 101 so I can't give you any tips there. If you do use it please give us some feedback.![]()
What do you think the aggressiveness level is compared to other compounds/polishes? Is it low, medium or high? For instance is it like a megs 105 or 205 or something in between?
Drew
This is tough because I've never really tried it as a means to perform correction, but my personal opinion is that it's low. In fact I used M205 to clean up the striping and actually finished out the whole van. I honestly can't give you the level of cut, that's a question you may want to call Duragloss and ask. Unless someone else here can answer of course. Maybe send richy or sal329 a pm and ask them. Richy has guided me many times using Duragloss and I believe Sal uses it frequently.
Ok i'll shoot richy a pm thanks!
501 does not contain abrasives--just chemical cleaners. If you want a great all in one try HD Speed, Optimum GPS or any other AIO with abrasives.
