What is the difference between DG 105 and 111?

From reading the descriptions they sound very similar. Is it worth using the PBA? Do you get better durability? Is it as durable as 845?

105 has light cleaners in it, 111 contains zero cleaners. PBA is 100% worth using and yes you get better durability. I just removed my 1 coat of 105/601 applied 10 months ago and it took me 2 1/2 hours consisting of 1 round of Iron X, 2 rounds of Optimum Power Clean full strength, 7oz. of CG Citrus Wash & Gloss and some hard scrubbing. In my opinion it is way more durable than 845 and to be honest I think 845 is overrated.

wow that's the bomb . while I do have this combo to use/try that's awesome durability for dd. do u have any suggestions to strip this off other than what u used ? I like the idea of a simple wash can remove a lot of Lsp's, but what u had to go through is no simple wash . now I have opc and use that in conjunction with a dawn wash . if my paint is good I don't wanna have to polish if not needed which I'm sure would strip that combo .

So how do you know when everything is striped.....and dawn soap. Will that not assist scratching while washing

I mixed 105/601 @ 4:1 if I recall correctly. There is a possibility that I applied 601 first then topped with 105, but I'm about 90% certain I pre-mixed it. I can't say 100% because it was 10 months ago and I've used the combo so many times that I've lost track.

You can apply 101/105/111 like any liquid wax using a DA, even if you pre-mix them with 601. The only products to my knowledge that will be different are Pre-Clean #2 and Swirl Mark Remover since they contain abrasives, for this you will choose your polishing pad based on condition of paint.

Jenn, the cleaners in 105 will pull some grime out of your paint but if you really want to deep clean your paint then I would suggest using DG 501 Marine/RV Polish. This will also lay a great foundation for 105 or 111. Now with 111 you have no cleaning abilities so if you plan to use this then clean the paint with 501 or polish your paint first. If you're not familiar with mixing 601 Polish Bonding Agent, basically do it in a 4:1 ratio meaning 4 parts 105 or 111 or 501 to 1 part 601. If you don't feel like mixing then simply apply to paint and allow to haze, then apply 501 or 105 or 111 directly over top and allow to haze. Once products have hazed over start removing them. Richy and I were talking about this the other evening and if you're not familiar the slickness will be present the next day. If you have any DG questions there are a few enthusiasts here like myself but I always reach out to Richy first because he is always in contact with Jerry Bailey, one of the owners and the guy in the lab. :xyxthumbs:

I never used 105 for some reason I started with 501 and 111 and that has been what I continued to use. I started adding 601 to the mix and I did notice more durability.

Jen, trust me on this and you'll be glad you did. Get yourself some 601 and some 501. I prefer 105 to 111, but that's just me. I find it a bit easier to work with. 105 is just so darned easy to use and it gives great results...but I digress.
First step after polishing your paint is to use a 4:1 ratio of 501 to 601 and a white pad at speed 5 or 6. You think your paint was clean and polished before? Wait till you look at your pad after using this duo. The combo of the 2 allows you to immediately top them. Therefore, immediately onto step 2:
Step 2: Use a 4:1 ratio of 105(or111) to 601. Why mix at this stage? Well, the addition of the 601 allows the mixture to flash cure (NO, that does not mean Philbert comes down and blows on it to cure it, LOL) and then it can be immediately removed. You can remove section by section or after doing the entire car, it's up to you. You can do this by hand or via DA. (black or blue pad, speed 4 will do).

Several months ago I applied some 501 and followed it with Collinite 845 and it is still going strong. I will probably use this combo twice a year---April and then November.
