Does anyone ever spray the gunk off their car so that the salt
and dirt doesn't dwell on the paint and then not dry the paint?
Feed back please. :buffing:
 
Yeah I does as long as it is not too cold where the water will freeze as soon as it touch the paint
 
Great to see you posting and keeping on top of the Lexi in the garage :props:

I never wipe dry paint that's not thoroughly clean unless it's on the Freightliner...and rarely so then.
 
Ive tried it a few times this winter. Normally I would follow up with a rinseless wash but the roads were still covered in salt so I knew as soon as I drove a few miles my car would be filthy again. Plus the temps were in the low 20s and I don't have a garage so the rinseless would freeze on my panels before I had a chance to dry it off.

Works ok. Definitely got most of the salt off. However it left a few water marks from not drying the water off properly.
 
I have hot water I use a foam cannon via my pressure washer all winter to knock off the salt and what not. My process is honeydew in the foam "boom boom" cannon and then a hand wash with 1 oz of onr and 2 oz optimum car wash to a 5 gallon bucket of hot water and bam of to the races.:buffing:
 
If you spray with water/foam cannon only and then don't rub it of any kind (washing or drying) it will get most of it off, but it will leave a film behind. The film may be depending on how salty your car is, but I tried it a time or two this winter when I had salt caked up to my windows and it ended up leaving a layer of film. The film looks better than having it white to the windows though!

On a side note, this film helps you figure out where you are slacking when washing the car :laughing: . Since I blow dry the car, when it is dry I can see little areas of film left where I got lazy, usually down on my lower panels.
 
If the roads are still crappy I'll just spray it off. Sometimes with soap sometimes without. Soap alone doesn't always get a lot off and leaves a film (like said above). If roads are decent then it's a full wash and dry.
 
I frequently drop by the $2 DIY place and just final rinse the salt off the vehicle(s) then drive home. No wipey, no washy, just a rinse off.
